This recipe is perfect because you can have the perfect fall dessert in just minutes, using ingredients from your local grocery store!
Read on to find how to make these simple Pumpkin Pie Crescents, including how to make them your own and how to make a whole bunch for your next fall gathering!
Can I use homemade pumpkin pie filling instead of store-bought pumpkin pie mix?
If you don’t want to use store bought pumpkin filling you can definitely make your own! You can use any recipe you like, just make sure that the consistency ends up similar to what you would get from a store bought pie mix to make sure that it spreads evenly in the rolls and allows for even baking. As far as spices go, make it your own!
Are there any variations or additions I can make to the filling for extra flavor?
These are already delicious as-is, but feel free to get creative with extras! You could drizzle a cream cheese frosting over the top, sprinkle them in powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar, or whatever sounds delicious to you. You could even add chopped nuts to the filling or sprinkle them with some mini chocolate chips!
Can I use a different kind of dough instead of crescent dough?
These buttery crescent rolls from the local grocery store make it SO easy and quick to put this recipe together- but they’re not everyone’s cup of tea! You could make these using puff pastry, pie dough, biscuit dough or even a homemade yeast dough.
Pick your favorite and roll it out into sheets, then use a pizza cutter to cut triangles in the same way that crescent roll triangles are shaped. From there, just follow the recipe as written- but keep an eye on your rolls as using a different dough may affect cook times in either direction!
What are some serving suggestions for Pumpkin Pie Crescent Rolls?
This delicious treat is perfect for any time, whether that’s for Thanksgiving dessert or a random Tuesday after school. You can make them even sweeter with a scoop of ice cream or some whipped cream, or have them for brunch with a pumpkin spice latte. They’re delicious with fresh berries if you’re trying to balance it out a bit, and would even be delicious on a fall themed cheese platter or charcuterie board!
How can I make a large batch of these Pumpkin Crescents for a party or gathering? Should I adjust the recipe?
This is the perfect sweet treat for a fall time gathering! To make more, just increase the recipe in proportion- but if baking more than one batch in the oven at once you’ll likely need to add a little time to the baking. It may be easier to bake in smaller batches but that’s at your discretion! Be sure not to overcrowd the baking sheets as that can cause them to bake into each other and stick together.
Can I make these crescent rolls ahead of time and reheat them later?
Definitely! I will say, like most crescent rolls, they’re definitely best fresh out of the oven. But if you want to make them ahead of time you definitely can!
See below for how to best store them; then, when you’re ready to reheat them, just preheat your oven to 350 degrees F, place the leftover rolls on a baking sheet, and bake for about 5-10 minutes until the rolls are heated through and the edges are slightly crispy again.
Make sure not to overbake them- they don’t need nearly as long this time! {Tip: If you want them to taste even better, lightly brush them with a bit of melted butter again before putting them in the oven!}
How do I store leftover Pumpkin Pie Crescent Rolls?
If you won’t be able to finish your batch in the next couple of days, you’ll definitely want to store them properly to keep them fresh.
Before storing, allow them to cool to room temperature, then store them in an airtight container, plastic wrap or a plastic bag. If there are a lot {like for a party}, consider layering them between sheets of parchment paper or wax paper to prevent sticking.
You’ll need to keep them in the fridge to keep them fresh, where they can be stored for about 3-4 days. If you need more time, you can keep them in a freezer-safe container in the freezer for about 2-3 months.
