It’s no wonder that one of the first big things to come out of quarantine life was Dalgona coffee- the delicious whipped concoction made from instant coffee, milk, and various flavorings.
Now that we’re moving into fall, this Caramel Pumpkin Spice Dalgona Coffee is here to help you through back to school and whatever Halloween looks like. Of course, it’s good any time of year!
Can I substitute the instant coffee?
Sorry, nope, this only works with instant coffee. But the good news is that it’s not too hard to find instant coffee- just add it to your normal grocery store pickup list or buy it on Amazon. Many brands make it, from Folgers to Starbucks.
Is this Dalgona Coffee lactose free?
This Caramel Pumpkin Spice Dalgona Coffee is not lactose free as written, but can easily be made so by just switching your milk.
I haven’t tried it with almond or soy milk, so I can’t speak to the consistency of that, but I typically sub out my milk with Lactaid’s lactose-free milk {not an ad}. It has the same consistency as “regular” milk, so it’s a great substitution for the milk in this recipe.

Caramel Pumpkin Spice Dalgona Coffee
This delicious whipped coffee recipe is perfect for fall- or anytime! It's easy and quick to make and tastes like an expensive coffeehouse treat.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons of caramel, more or less depending on preference
- 1 tablespoon Instant Coffee
- 1 tablespoon cold water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- ¼ teaspoon pumpkin-pie spice
- Approximately 1 cup of whole milk, depending on glass size
- Ice (optional)
Instructions
- Pour caramel into bottom of drinking glass, then fill with ice.
- Fill glass with milk, leaving approximately a half-an-inch space at the top of the glass. Put to the side.
- In a separate jar, mix instant coffee, cold water, sugar, and pumpkin pie spice together.
- With whisk, beat the four items until they thicken. Using a handheld mixer, it took approximately 2 minutes.
- Once you get firm peaks, spoon the mixture over the milk.
- Sprinkle pumpkin pie spice on top.
- Stir and enjoy!
