Ah, fall. The time of year when I don’t break into a sweat getting the mail and I also don’t turn into an icicle picking the kids up from school.
Between the perfect weather, the beautiful changing scenery, and the holidays {hello, spooky season}- fall is already pretty perfect.
But then when you bring the delicious treats that come with fall- like pumpkin spice everything, so many caramel treats, and of course, apple cider- it really is the best season.
One of my absolute favorite fall recipes is apple cider- and this Slow Cooker Pumpkin Apple Cider really takes the cake! It’s SO simple to make {especially since my Crockpot basically lives on my counter this time of year}, combines two of the best flavors of fall, and is a nice way to unwind and relax- something we all need right now.
This recipe starts with premade apple cider and just improves on it. If you’re looking for a recipe for basic apple cider, start here first. Then when you have your apple cider, you can pumpkin-fy it with this delicious and easy recipe! {Or, do what I do and just pick up some cider from the store or the apple orchard!}
Can you make this apple cider on the stovetop?
You can totally make apple cider on the stovetop, but I haven’t tried it with these specific ingredients so you’ll need to keep a really close eye on the time.
Most stovetop apple cider recipes suggest cooking on high for 30 minutes and then low for 2 hours, stirring often and adding more water as needed.
That said, if you have a slow cooker you’re better off just using that. It’s easier and barely takes longer at all.
Is this vegan apple cider?
Yep, all ingredients included in this recipe are vegan. Since this starts out with premade apple cider, maybe double check your cider brand is vegan since many brands actually include gelatin in their products. If you don’t have access to a great vegan apple cider, try making this apple cider recipe first, and then use that cider to make this Pumpkin Apple Cider.
Can the Kids Help?
Kids can ALWAYS help in the kitchen! For this recipe, I’d suggest having them help with adding the ingredients to the slow cooker. There aren’t many steps to do for this recipe so they can help alongside you while you prep it!
Measuring ingredients and seeing cooking or baking in action is a great way for kids to learn. Not only does it help them hone real-world skills, but it helps with skills such as math and reading. Getting kids in the kitchen whenever you can is great!
