I love this time of year, because I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. Making food for my family soothes my soul and to be honest, keeps me going during the often stressful holidays. That said, there are always a million things to do, so while I love to cook from scratch, I don’t always have time to. I love recipes that let me take shortcuts, like when they contain an ingredient that’s already made for me.
Pillsbury Crescent Rolls are one of the ultimate staples in my kitchen. They are delicious on their own, but they are a fantastic item to use in other recipes! They can be used to create all kinds of things, from savory snacks to delicious desserts. Since I’m still enjoying the green apples that we all picked at the apple orchard a couple of weeks ago, I decided to try making something new with them- Brown Sugar Cinnamon Apple Crescents!
These Crescents are a delicious treat that you won’t be able to get enough of. Luckily, they are also crazy easy to make!
Ingredients:
Pillsbury Original Crescent Rolls, Twin Pack {8 oz each}
2 Granny Smith Apples, cored and cut into 8 even slices each
2 TBSP butter, melted
1/4 cup brown sugar
Cinnamon sugar, about 4 tbsp or as needed
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Separate Crescent Rolls into triangles.
2. Spoon a light layer of melted butter onto upside of each one. Place an apple slice horizontal along the longest edge of the Crescent Roll.
3. Spoon brown sugar on- just enough to lightly cover the inside of the Crescent Roll.
4. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar as desired- I did about a pinch per roll.
5. Roll up from the biggest part to the smallest part, making sure to keep the apple slice still!
6. Place onto ungreased cookie sheet. Sprinkle with one more coat of cinnamon sugar.
7. Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until golden brown on the edges. Let sit on the cookie sheet for 2 minutes and then place onto a plate to finish cooling.
8. Enjoy!
As you can see, these are simple and quick, too. I made both of the rolls that came in my two pack from Walmart and from start to finish, they took less than 25 minutes. And that’s including the time spent cutting the apples and bake time! Whether you’re preparing a delicious dessert for a family get together or making a quick snack to enjoy while working on a school project with the kids, these Crescents are definitely something you need to try this holiday season.
Be sure to pick up the Pillsbury Original Crescent Rolls Twin Pack {8 oz} at your local Walmart! Whether you use them for these Apple Crescents or just bake them on Thanksgiving, they deserve a permanent place on your shopping list this Baking Season.
