There is so much to look forward to each summer, from late nights in the backyard to months without carpool duties. One of the best things that summer brings? S’mores!
I am always game for classic s’mores, with toasted marshmallows and melty chocolate between graham crackers. But that flavor combination is delicious in any form, so I love playing around with the combo in lots of fun ways all summer long!

These S’mores Crescent Rolls are such a delicious way to enjoy the marshmallow, chocolate, graham cracker combo- without the campfire! They’re super simple to make and perfect for entertaining since you can whip up a whole batch of them at once- way faster than traditional s’mores!

Whether you’re a huge s’mores fan like I am or just want a delicious, easy summer recipe you can throw together quickly, these S’mores Crescent Rolls are the perfect summer treat!
Tip: The Best Way to Melt Chocolate Chips
While the chocolate chips on the inside of these S’mores Crescent Rolls will of course melt on their own just the right amount, you’ll need to melt some additional chocolate chips to use to drizzle on top. The recipe below explains how to melt and use the chocolate chips for drizzling on top right in the pastry bag, but most of the time you’d melt the chocolate in a bowl.
Chocolate chips can be a little bit sensitive, but here are some tips for easily melting chocolate chips:
- Microwave chocolate chips at 50% power, not full power. Of course it’ll take longer this way, but going full blast is more likely to dry them out and make them clump up, even if you microwave them for a shorter time.
- Stir often. You can go ahead and melt them undisturbed for about 45 seconds, but after that you’ll want to stir them every 30 seconds or so. Make sure when you stir, you get all of it- you don’t want the bits at the bottom getting stuck on there!
- Make sure they’re completely melted before you move on. It can be tempting to stop melting them once they’re most of the way melted, but keep in mind you’ll still need to put the chocolate in a piping bag and pipe it. Semi-melted chocolate is hard to work with and impossible to drizzle, so make sure it’s fully melted but don’t overheat it. When it’s all liquid and there are no chunks remaining, that’s when you’re done.

Should you serve S’mores Crescent Rolls hot or cold?
Traditional s’mores are best fresh from the campfire, so is the same true for S’mores Crescent Rolls? Basically.
You can absolutely serve them cooled or warm, but that marshmallow will harden a bit- and more importantly, the crescent roll itself is way better warm, regardless of what’s in it. That doesn’t mean they’ll be bad if they aren’t fresh from the oven, but don’t wait too long if you can help it.
That said, don’t eat them as SOON as they come out either because that filling is going to be really hot! Give them about five minutes to cool before biting into them.
Can the Kids Help?
Kids can ALWAYS help in the kitchen! For this recipe, I’d suggest letting them help with:
- Unrolling the crescent roll dough and separating the triangles
- Sprinkling each roll with marshmallows and chocolate chips
- Drizzling with chocolate and sprinkling with graham crackers
I’d also suggest that you help a little extra with:
- Rolling up the crescent rolls {depending on age}
- Melting chocolate- this can get very hot!
- Putting the melted chocolate in the piping bag
