Can you believe it’s almost the 4th of July?? My boys can’t wait to stay up late to see the fireworks and light some sparklers like we do every year! This year we’re celebrating in a delicious way too with these Patriotic Pretzel S’mores!
S’mores are one of my absolute favorite treats, and I love them in all forms and varieties. This version is a little different because it uses pretzels instead of graham crackers, but that salty flavor really adds a little extra pop. I love using candy melts- I also used them for my Finding Dory Candy Bark recipe- because they are so easy and make this a dessert that even the kids can help with {just, maybe not the oven part}.
Patriotic Pretzel S’mores

72 Pretzel snaps {About 2 cups}
72 mini marshmallows
2 Tablespoons solid shortening {in two parts- 1T & 1T}
1/2 cup Wilton White Candy Melts
1/2 cup Wilton Light Blue Candy Melts
Patriotic Sprinkles and/or Jimmies
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and lay out 1/2 of the pretzels (36) with at least an inch between each one. Place 2 marshmallows on top of each pretzel snap.
3. Bake for 4-5 minutes or until marshmallows soften and puff up.
4. Remove from oven and immediately place the remaining pretzels on top of the melted marshmallows. Let cool on cookie sheet for at least 10 minutes.
5. Meanwhile in a microwave safe bowl microwave 1 tablespoon shortening for 45 seconds. Add the white candy melts and stir until completely melted.
6. With a spoon, pour the melted white chocolate over half of the pretzel s’mores. Immediately sprinkle patriotic sprinkles and jimmies on top of the melted white chocolate pretzel s’mores. Let cool for 15 minutes.
7. In a microwave safe bowl, microwave 1 tablespoon shortening for 45 seconds. Add the light blue candy melts and stir until completely melted.
8. With a spoon, pour the melted light blue chocolate over the remaining pretzels s’mores. Immediately sprinkle patriotic sprinkles and jimmies on top of the melted light blue chocolate pretzel s’mores. Let cool for 15 minutes. Enjoy!
