I make dinner at least 5 nights a week, so I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. While I actually really enjoy cooking and look forward to eating a home cooked meal most nights {even though I’m the one doing the cooking}, I do still love a good QUICK and simple meal that the whole family can agree on.
Well that’s exactly what I’ve found with these delicious Taco Crescents! Using premade Crescent roll dough and a few simple ingredients, these can be ready for the oven by the time it’s done preheating and just 10-12 minutes later, dinner is on the table!
Can I make vegetarian Taco Crescent Rolls?
Absolutely- and super easily! If you’re using Pillsbury Crescent Rolls {not sponsored}, they’re not just vegetarian but also vegan! That means all you’ll need to do to make this recipe vegetarian is swap the ground beef for a meat alternative, like Impossible or Beyond Meat.
Want to make it fully vegan? Swap the meat and then swap the cheese for vegan cheese- or skip it entirely. {I do that a lot and don’t even miss it.} You’ll also need to substitute the butter at the end for a vegan brand, though if you can’t find any you can skip that step. But it really does taste great on there.
What side dishes go well with Taco Crescent Rolls?
These have the same flavor profile as tacos, so think of things you’d pair with those! Some ideas:
- Mexican rice
- Cilantro lime rice
- Southwest salad {homemade or from bag mix}
- Fresh avocado {or fresh guac- perfect for dipping these!}
- Street Corn
- Refried Beans
- Grilled zucchini
Can the Kids Help?
Kids can ALWAYS help in the kitchen! For this recipe, I’d suggest letting them help with:
- Topping with shredded cheese
- Spreading out the crescent roll dough
- Rolling up the crescent rolls {might need help depending on age}
- Basting the butter and seasoning mix over the rolls
I’d also suggest that you help a little extra with:
- Cooking the food in the skillet, especially the beef
- Putting the rolls in the oven {and removing them}
