The first step is to heat-treat your flour. To do this, preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Spread the all-purpose flour on a large baking sheet and bake in the oven for 8 minutes, stirring once about halfway through {Let your heat-treated flour cool completely before continuing!}

In a medium sized bowl, beat together the softened butter and white sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.

Beat in the milk, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well-combined.

Whisk together the flour and salt. Add to the batter and beat until completely incorporated and no dry streaks remain.
