I love making special treats for the kids. A sweet tooth runs in the family, so we all love lots of different kinds of treats. That said, cookies are a definite favorite around here!
None of us have cookies we don’t like, but of course we all have our favorites. The boys in particular love hazelnut spread {Nutella}, so these Nutella Monster Cookies are a HUGE hit around here!
These cookies are SO easy to make, and they have some ingredients in them that make them semi-healthy, too! {Let’s just not talk about the Nutella part. It’s all about balance.}
Do I have to use Nutella?
You can use whatever brand of hazelnut spread you like for the same result! And if you’re looking into switching the hazelnut spread completely {due to allergies or any other reason}, you can sub any other spread.
I would, however, recommend keeping a closer eye on them as the alternative spread may cause them to bake faster- or slower.}
Are these no-bake?
Many oat cookies recipes are no-bake, but these are not. They include 2 eggs, which of course need to be baked for food safety. If you’re looking for No-Bake treats, check out this Cookie Dip, these Pumpkin Bites, or these granola bars.
Can the kids help?
Of course!! Depending on the age of your kids, you’ll likely need to help with the oven part and teaching them how to fold in ingredients. But other than that, the kids can totally handle this one with some light supervision. {Just make sure you discuss food safety when using raw eggs!}
