Well, I’ve been crazy exhausted again this week, hence this post being a day late for the first time so far. I typically take a nap after Shane’s in bed & then stay up until late working on posts, straightening up the house, etc. but the last few nights, I’ve been either sleeping right through my alarms for those naps or turning them off outright. I’m looking forward to sleeping in on Saturday & trying to play catch up on my Zzz’s!
How Far Along: 18 Weeks
Due Date: February 6, 2014
Baby’s Development:
Head to rump, your baby is approximately 5 1/2 inches long and weighs almost 7 ounces (about the size of a bell pepper). He’s busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you’ll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. If you’re having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you’re having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, although he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.

The Bump:
Symptoms: Like I said, I’ve been downright exhausted all week. However, the nausea, while still there on occasion, has been exponentially better. In it’s place, I’ve had a lot of belly pain- not anything to be concerned about, but my bump is really starting to pop & so my ab muscles on top have been hurting from being forced to stretch so quickly. It’s not a huge deal, I’ve just been rubbing my belly a lot lately, which I always imagine makes me look like Santa Claus. I’ve also had some major leg cramps but only at night.
Cravings: The BBQ chips craving came back this week for sure. It’s so random!
Food aversions: I’ve actually been okay! The one exception was after dinner one night, when I had to have Justin put away the leftovers because I suddenly felt sick & couldn’t look at them. But that’s it.
What made me cry this week: SO. MANY. THINGS. This Buzzfeed article- 28 Pictures That Prove Dreams Do Come True gave me tons of feels & happy tears. &The silliest thing was that I teared up at Parent’s night the other night at Shane’s school because the preschool & kindergarten teachers were singing the alphabet song the school does, &it made me think about how I can’t wait to be a teacher when my kids are all grown up. It was super random and normally wouldn’t make me tear up, but of course- hormones!
Medical stuff/appointments: The next one is on the 16th.
Something I am excited about: Now that it’s September, I may actually be able to wear jeans instead of shorts so I am going to go pick some up soon. We’re still a couple of months away from long sleeved shirts but I can’t wait for them!
Something I am not so excited about: Nothing comes to mind.
Baby purchases: Nothing this week, though I did set aside a few of Shane’s baby toys for this little one. I’m also planning on picking up a maternity pillow soon as sleeping is starting to get uncomfortable.
Shane’s Thoughts: Shane found a page of stickers yesterday & made a game out of them. He would have us repeat phrases using “please” and “thank you” & then he’d reward us for using our manners- it was so funny hearing him praise us for it like I do to him! He wanted the baby to have stickers too, though, and by the time I went to bed I peeled probably 10 stickers off that were for me & another 10 for baby!

I’m sorry you’re so tired. I can’t imagine how you nap and then get up to work again! Many nights I feel like I need a nap, but if I laid down I’d never get back up! Hope you get to sleep in tomorrow.
Kathleen says
I hate the exhausted part of pregnancy the most I think. I don’t blame you for crying at that article though, it made me cry and I’m not even pregnant.

Chips! Yum…I want some now, that’s my weakness.
And, naps. I want them all the time.

I love your comparison. Hmm when I was pregnant, I was hungry for some boiled peanut. I know so random and guess what I found them. Yes, where there’s a will, there is a way.

I always thought it was kind of funny when they use the fruits & veggies to compare baby size. I think of a pepper as smaller than a turnip, but obviously the baby isn’t shrinking…lol

Adorable picture!
I haven’t read the article, but I’m now intrigued…..
