This week was just as busy as last week- even though I stayed in town, we’ve been crazy busy! Shane turned 4 on Tuesday so last Saturday, we had the family over for dinner & cake and then on Tuesday, we did a playgroup birthday at a fun indoor playground place here. It involved a lot of planning & a lot of errands, so I kept busy all week!
How Far Along: 15 Weeks
Due Date: February 6, 2014
Baby’s Development:
Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). She’s busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she’s likely to move away from the beam. There’s not much for your baby to taste at this point, but she is forming taste buds. Finally, if you have an ultrasound this week, you may be able to find out whether your baby’s a boy or a girl! (Don’t be too disappointed if it remains a mystery, though. Nailing down your baby’s sex depends on the clarity of the picture and on your baby’s position. He or she may be modestly curled up or turned in such a way as to "hide the goods.")

Movement: Finally a few kicks! Teeny tiny ones but still, kicks!
The Bump:
Symptoms: After a week off {or at least, mostly} from the morning sickness last week, it came back with a vengeance this week. It’s still nothing like the first few weeks I was sick, but it’s been a rough week. I’ve also had some round ligament pain &fatigue, but the main issue was the sickness.
Cravings: Nothing new, I’ve barely felt good enough to eat this week let alone crave anything.
Food aversions: Almost everything. I haven’t been able to make Justin a lunch for work all week because being near the fridge makes me sick.
What made me cry this week: Shane turning 4! I am so excited for him but I always get a little sad because he’s growing up so fast.
Medical stuff/appointments: I saw the doctor on Monday for my monthly visit & everything went well! I had a whole bunch of tests {including a blood test that took almost 10 vials of blood} and I haven’t gotten any results yet but I have my fingers crossed. When the doctor was first using the doppler to check the heartbeat, he couldn’t find one, so of course I was completely nervous for a minute. He got the ultrasound though & discovered he’d just been looking in the wrong place. I let out a huge sigh of relief when I heard that tiny heartbeat! I’m measuring perfectly on track & baby is measuring 2 days ahead, which doesn’t actually affect anything but at least I know they’re growing really well!
Something I am excited about: We’ll be finding out the gender at the next appointment! {If we don’t go the 3D route & find out sooner!} Our appointment is scheduled for September 16th.
Something I am not so excited about: Now that the blood work is behind me, nothing comes to mind.
Baby purchases: None this week, but we did get Shane’s new dresser, which means the baby now owns Shane’s old one. The baby’s not even born yet & the hand-me-downs have begun!
Shane’s Thoughts: He still seems to think that when the time comes for the baby to come out, my belly is going to “POP!” and the baby’s going to come out, like my belly’s a balloon or something.

aww, I have no doubt that you cried about Shane having a birthday, it’s fun to see them grow up, but it does hurt our Mommy hearts too doesn’t it?
Mellisa says
I had morning sickness with both kids but it was worse with my daughter. It seemed to go away around 16-18 weeks.

So excited for you! Can’t wait to hear what you’re having!! 😀
Jennifer @ The Quirky Momma says
I’m so sorry about the ‘morning’ sickness. I think it really should be called 24/7 sickness 🙁
LyndaS says
I don’t really recall much sickness-wise. I just remember if I started feeling bad that if I ate something that I would start to feel better.
Jennifer says
so sorry you are experiencing sickness again 🙁 That is one of the worst things about pregnancy.
Lisa says
I agree!!!
Angela says
I am so glad the pregnancy is going well for you!
Donna says
So sorry you’re still suffering from morning sickness. And I completely understand crying because they’re growing up so fast. My son started 5th grade Monday, and I’ve been a basket case all week. I’m beyond sad that this is his last year in elementary school. Sigh.
Colleen says
So sorry you are feeling sick again I was hoping you were getting close to done with that.
Tiff @ Babes and Kids says
I’m sorry your morning sickness is back, that’s just plain mean! I’m glad that everything looked good with baby on the ultrasound too. Sometimes it’s scary when the baby is tiny and they have a hard time finding the heartbeat with the doppler. So exciting that you get to find out what you are having soon!
Marcie W. says
So sorry for your morning sickness. I had it every morning from week 8-18 with my first (girl), only when I didn’t eat with my second (girl) and not at all with my third (boy). I’m thinking pink for you!
