How Far Along: 11 weeks
Due Date: February 6, 2014
Baby’s Development:
Your baby, just over 1 1/2 inches long and about the size of a fig, is now almost fully formed. Her hands will soon open and close into fists, tiny tooth buds are beginning to appear under her gums, and some of her bones are beginning to harden.
She’s already busy kicking and stretching, and her tiny movements are so effortless they look like water ballet. These movements will become more frequent as her body grows and becomes more developed and functional. You won’t feel your baby’s acrobatics for another month or two — nor will you notice the hiccupping that may be happening now that her diaphragm is forming.

Movement: Not just yet
Bump Picture:
{I’ll be updating this post later today with a better photo when Justin gets home- apparently selfies taken at 1am in your son’s room don’t work as well for comparison’s sake. There is the added bonus of a napping dog & a giant stuffed whale watching you though.}
Symptoms: While I definitely still have all-day sickness, the degree of sickness is getting better. Rather than spending most of the day on the bathroom floor I’m enjoying my tummy ache in bed, so I’ll consider that a positive. It gives me hope that the end of this part is near! However, I’ve been getting some killer headaches every day &I’m hoping those go away soon. {Headaches are a side effect of Zofran, the medicine I occasionally take to deal with my nausea. While I sometimes get the headaches without the medicine, I still can’t help but think that they’re mostly correlated.}
Despite the headaches & ever-present nausea, my energy seems to be increasing a smidge. I have been back to cleaning {&have SO much to catch up on!} and even baked banana walnut bread from scratch the other night. That’s not a huge deal in general, but just the idea of doing that would have exhausted me a couple of weeks ago.
Cravings: Ice cream. For sure. Also yesterday I totally scraped my dinner plans {homemade pizza} because I had to have a chicken sandwich from McDonald’s- not the healthiest pregnancy food but better than the crackers-only diet I’ve been on for weeks.
Food aversions: Most meat. I am able to sneak it in if it’s not the main feature {we had chicken tamales the other night} but I am still unable to cook meat or eat straight-up meat that isn’t hidden {like the steak my in-laws made this weekend- it was yummy but I couldn’t handle more than 2 bites}.
What made me cry this week: Ten minutes ago, I would have said nothing, but in doing my research on baby’s development for this post I wound up having to watch a Huggies ad where they find out they’re pregnant- yeah, that got me.
Medical stuff/appointments: Nothing this week. My next visit is August 5th.
Something I am excited about: This is the last week before the magical 12-week mark! I feel like I’ll be able to stop holding my breath & crossing my fingers in just a few short days. {Well, for the most part. I won’t completely stop doing that until this baby is safely in my arms.}
Something I am not so excited about: I have to go maternity clothes shopping {which I realize was my “something I’m excited about” last week, but my attitude has changed}. It will be fun, but I’m still at that awkward stage where I look like I ate three pizzas for dinner. I’m definitely looking more pregnant than I did at this point with Shane, but it still makes for awkward dressing room moments.
Baby purchases: I’m holding off one more week to purchase anything- though I have a coupon for Carter’s that I am just itching to use!

I’m glad you’re starting to feel a little better. I was really sick too and Zofran was my best friend. I called it my happy pill. I’m sure anyone that over heard me talking about it wondered what drug I was on! LOL
Becca @ Mama B says
I had a huge meat aversion during my 3rd pregnancy!
Krystyn @ Really, Are You Serious? says
I hate that meat does that…same for me. And, yet, eating protein is what helps me with my headaches and nausea…my body confuses me.

During my intense morning (all day) sickness phases I always ate whatever sounded good, whether it was healthy or not. I also had intense headaches with my second pregnancy and didn’t take Zofran. I’m hoping all of this means girl for you!

I hate how long there is between visits at the beginning of pregnancy.

I remember carefully tracking every little thing while I waited for my daughter to be born. Just the smell of meat or onions would gag me while I was pregnant.
