In case you haven’t noticed, hot chocolate bombs are having a MOMENT. They were huge for the holidays but as much as we wish it, winter doesn’t end as soon as the holidays are over- there are still lots of cold days ahead! So hot cocoa bombs are still going strong, and now there are some for grown-ups, too!
Don’t get me wrong, I love hot chocolate just as much as the next person. But I also love coffee. A lot. So why not make some Coffee Bombs?!
What kind of coffee is in Mocha Coffee Bombs?
These mocha bombs are made using instant espresso powder, that way when the bombs explode the powder can mix with the hot milk and make a nice cup of coffee. Using already brewed coffee would not work with this recipe as it would melt the chocolate shell.
Can I use regular coffee instead?
If you absolutely hate espresso powder and want to use your normal coffee, you’ll need to make a bit of a change. Instead of filling the bombs with coffee powder, use powdered creamer. Then, instead of pouring in hot milk to melt the bomb, pour in your hot coffee.
If you do it this way, the bombs themselves won’t have coffee in them- but they’ll still enhance your cup of Joe!

Espresso Coffee Bombs
These delicious coffee bombs are a fun way to start your day! They're easy to make in batches so you can always have an espresso bomb ready!
Ingredients
- 1 12-ounce package dark chocolate chips
- 6 tablespoons instant espresso powder
- ¼ cup white melting chocolate
- 6 cups hot milk to make the bombs
Instructions
Place the dark chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl and microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring between each interval, until the chocolate chips are fully melted.
Put a spoonful of melted chocolate inside one cup on the silicone mold and use the back of the spoon to spread the chocolate up the sides of the mold. Continue this process until all the molds are coated.
Set the remaining chocolate aside for sealing and decorating the bombs.
Allow the chocolate to set completely, around 2 to 3 hours. You can speed up the process by placing the chocolate in the refrigerator.
When the chocolate is set, remove each of the chocolate pieces from the mold. Add around one tablespoon of instant espresso powder in each piece.
Reheat the chocolate in 15 second intervals until melted. Pick up an empty chocolate piece and dip the edges into the melted chocolate. Carefully place it on top of a filled piece and lightly press it into place. Use your finger to smooth melted chocolate around the seam. Continue until all the chocolate bombs are sealed.
Melt the white chocolate according to the package instructions, then place the melted chocolate into piping bags. Drizzle the chocolate over the top of the bombs to decorate.
Allow the chocolate decorations to set before using, around 1 hour.
To make the mocha bombs, place the bomb in the bottom of a mug. Pour one cup of hot milk over the top of the bomb to melt the chocolate. When the chocolate is completely melted, stir to combine.
