Ah, summer. This is usually the time of year that people get together for backyard BBQs or pool parties, but of course none of that is happening this year. You know what I miss almost as much as the people? The FOOD!
Just because you can’t have a backyard BBQ this year, that doesn’t mean you can’t have party food. There are tons of reasons to enjoy your favorite party appetizers and snacks! We’ve been having movie nights at home and sometimes just making special snacks on the weekends just to have something to look forward to.
If you’re like me and you like chips and dip, this easy slow cooker cheese dip is a MUST TRY! It’s simple to make and won’t heat up the house {thank you, slow cooker} and tastes like summer!
Do I have to use the slow cooker?
You could make a similar recipe on the stovetop, but I haven’t tried it so I don’t know the exact switches you’d have to make. For sure make the beef first though since that takes way longer to properly cook than the cheese.
How can I make this vegetarian?
For the easiest and most delicious way to make this vegetarian, I suggest switching the ground beef to Beyond Meat. {Not sponsored! Just a big fan.} Beyond Meat ground beef works exactly the same way in recipes as ground beef and tastes just like the real thing, so it’d work really well in this recipe.
Can the Kids Help?
Kids can ALWAYS help in the kitchen! For this recipe, they could easily help dump all the ingredients into the slow cooker.
Depending on their age they may be able to help with the beef, but that’s more for older kids/tweens. If you do let them help with this, make sure to keep the heat nice and low to avoid having the extra grease splattering. Make sure to teach them how to check the temperature of the meat to make sure it’s fully cooked! You’ll want to cook it to at least 160 degrees F {make sure it’s all browned and cooked through!}
