I grew up in the 90’s with all of the classic Disney Renaissance films. While Beauty and the Beast will ALWAYS be my favorite Disney movie, a very close second has to be the new classic Disney movie Tangled.
Disney movie Tangled. With amazing music, hilarious characters, a top-notch villain, a fun animal sidekick and one of the best Disney Princesses, the Tangled movie is definitely one of the best Disney films.
If you have a little girl or boy who agrees- or if you’re a big fan yourself- you’ll love these perfect birthday party treats! These are the most adorable Rapunzel cupcakes, perfect for a Tangled themed party! They are actually a lot easier to make than it looks and below I’ve broken it down step by step so you can find out exactly how to make them!

What flavors would work well for Rapunzel Cupcakes?
Since these cupcakes are pretty much covered in decorations, you could really use any flavor since you can’t see the cupcake anyway. That said, Rapunzel is most known for her hair- so I’d stick with either yellow cake for her iconic long locks or chocolate for that dramatic ending!
Really though, the choice is totally yours. I do include a cupcake recipe below, but if you’d rather use a different flavor feel free to bake your cupcakes and then come back here for the decorating steps!
Are there Disney Tangled themed cupcake liners I can use?
I haven’t seen any that are actually Tangled, but you have a few choices here. I used yellow since the yellow liners with the purple frosting REALLY give off Rapunzel vibes.
Can I bake these in advance?
While these cupcakes are easier to decorate than it seems, they do still take quick a bit of time to put together. I would highly recommend baking and decorating these the day before your event so that you aren’t scrambling on the day of your party.
That said, cupcakes are always better fresh so I would try not to bake these any earlier than 2 days before your event. One day really is the ideal, but two is acceptable.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine dry ingredients in a medium sized bowl.
Combine wet ingredients- including butter- in a large bowl.
Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients in 1/3 increments, mixing thoroughly each time.
Spoon into lined cupcake pan.
Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool cupcakes completely before decorating.
To make Pascal:
Break your marshmallow fondant into two pieces- one large and one about the size of a quarter.
Work 15-20 drops of green gel food coloring into the larger portion of marshmallow fondant.
Work 20-25 drops of green gel food coloring into the smaller portion.
Break the lighter green piece into 12 equal portions. Form each portion into a ball, then lengthen and extend one end to form a tail. Round the center to form Pascal’s body, and gently roll the other end to form a head.
Curl the tail end up toward the body.
Using your fingernails or a spoon, press into the lower portion of the center body area toward the tail to form the shape of a back leg, then repeat to form the general shape of a front leg.
Pinch at the top of the back of the body, from the head to the tail, to form the crest along his back.
Press a candy eyeball into each side of Pascal’s face.
Use the darker green fondant and pull off a very small portion. Roll it in your hand to form a very small cylinder. Place one cylinder on top of each of Pascal’s eyes to form eyelids.
Using your fingernail or a spoon, press into the front of Pascal’s face to form a smile.
Place all the Pascals into the fridge until you’re ready to add them to the cupcakes.
To decorate the cupcakes and bring it all together:
With your largest decorating tip, press into the top of the cupcake off-center, creating a well. Save hole tops.
Place 1 tablespoon of gold pearl sprinkles inside the well of the cupcake.
Replace the hole on each cupcake.
Mix 10-15 drops of neon purple food coloring into your vanilla frosting, stirring until the color is consistent and you have nice purple frosting.
Place star tip in piping bag and fill with frosting. Frost each cupcake in a swirl, turning the piping bag as you go.
Place 3-4 pearl sprinkles and a flower sprinkle on top and to one side of each cupcake.
Place a Pascal on each cupcake on the other side. Serve and enjoy!
