I know it’s not a traditional Thanksgiving without some delicious pie, but there are SO many amazing desserts out there. Sometimes, we like to switch it up a bit- but since we do love the taste of pie {especially apple}, we don’t stray TOO far!
Instead, we take the ingredients that traditionally make up apple pie- including, of course, the apple pie filling- and turn it, well, upside down!
This Apple Upside Down Cake is a great choice for holiday meals- especially Thanksgiving- because it still brings the same flavor profile as Apple Pie and celebrates the “Apple all the things” that fall brings with it, but in a totally different dish. It’s easy to make and looks pretty- it even makes a great centerpiece!
Is this a healthy Apple Upside Down Cake recipe?
This recipe as written is definitely intended to be a dessert. It includes pie filling, cake mix, and caramel sauce- not particularly healthy ingredients but definitely delicious ones!
If you’re looking for healthier swaps to make in this recipe, try subbing 3/4 cup applesauce in place of the three eggs.
What is the Best Way to Serve Caramel Apple Upside Down Cake?
Personally, I love it a la mode {served with ice cream}! You can also enjoy it as-is or even serve it with a few apple slices that you can use to get every last drop of caramel sauce!
