Thank you UBTECH’s JIMU Robot for sponsoring this post. JIMU Robot kits are a fun way to bring robotics into every kid’s day to day. The system relies on three steps: Building, Coding, and Playing. Robot kits from UBTECH offer a wide variety of challenging builds for the curious children in your lives. With JIMU Robot, kids 8+ can engage in STEM learning with their award-winning interactive robotic building block system!
I can’t believe the time is here, but Shane and I have been looking at middle schools. He’s still in fifth grade but applications are due soon, and we’re having to decide which type of school he wants to go to. He really likes STEM, and I really want to nurture that, so we recently went to check out a school that has won some high achievements for their robotics team and I think that alone made him want to go to that school!
While middle school is still almost a year away, the reminder that he’s growing up so quickly has really made me value spending as time with him as I can. Ever since he was little, we’ve always loved spending time together by creating projects together, and since he’s into robotics it was totally perfect timing that we were invited to check out an amazing kit – the JIMU Robot: FireBot Kit from UBTECH Robotics.
The FireBot kit is a fantastic activity for boys and girls ages 8 and up that the whole family can get involved with! You can work together on the building process or play around with the coding after the fact – there is so much potential to enjoy the FireBot kit together and that’s exactly what we did!
The FireBot has an LED light in the snout that makes it glow fiery red like fire or icy blue as its jaw opens or closes. You can also program the touch sensor on FireBot’s chest to make the dragon drive fluidly while it flaps its impressive, customizable wings!
We had so much fun assembling the robot together. He could have done it by himself but it was a great way for us to spend time together, and there were a couple of parts that it was nice to have some extra hands for. I loved getting to watch his brain work, and even though he was following instructions he was learning a lot.
One of my favorite things about the FireBot is that it has a long-lasting appeal. It doesn’t become just another thing to put on a shelf when you’re done building it- you can still use it and in a totally new way!
While building our FireBot was a lot of fun and was made really easy by the free JIMU app that includes tutorials – it was after it was complete that Shane had even more fun! You can use the JIMU app {available for iOS and Android platforms} to control, code and play with the robot and he loved bringing something he created to life.
It’s also teaching him coding, which is something he’s going to need to know soon anyway. It’s a fun way to introduce coding concepts to him before it becomes his homework! It’s also demonstrating to him that being able to code is pretty powerful, and that you can actually apply that knowledge to do some pretty cool things!
JIMU Robots makes a lot of awesome kits to appeal to all types of interests, from sports-themed competitive robots to mythical creatures like FireBot. But even after selecting a kit you can still go beyond your choice as they can use the included pieces to make whatever they want! You don’t have to stick with the robot on the packaging, kids can make and remake things with their parts as many times as they want.If you know someone who would love the JIMU Robot: FireBot Kit from UBTECH Robotics, you can find it in Target stores or online at Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, Kohls.com, Samsclub.com, Target.com, Walmart.com, and ubtrobot.com.
