I love experimenting with new beauty tools. Whether it’s a new gadget, a new eyeshadow palette, or a new line of skincare, I’m all about trying new things. I have found some great products out there, but I’ve also come to realize that some of the best beauty recipes can be found right in your pantry!
Today I’m sharing an effective at-home face scrub that not only exfoliates {thanks to the sugar and baking soda} but also moisturizes {from the coconut oil}. It smells delicious, too! {That’s the cinnamon.}
Using cinnamon in beauty products actually has several benefits, including:
-Plumps up skin {reducing wrinkles}
-Eczema relief
-Acne treatment
-Antiseptic
-Antifungal
-Antibacterial
-Increases blood flow {hello, rosey cheeks!}
I’m sure by now you’ve also heard all about the wonders of coconut oil. People tout it as a miracle ingredient, and rightfully so! It does many jobs, including softening skin, soothing eczema, treating acne, and helping with psoriasis. Basically what I am trying to tell you is that this DIY Cinnamon Face Scrub is the perfect gift for anyone on your list with skin woes- or you can just make a batch for yourself and use it to take a break from the holiday stress!
Ingredients:
-2 Tbsp. Cinnamon
-1 Tbsp. Sugar
-1 Tbsp. Coconut oil
-2 tsp. Baking soda
-1 Vitamin E Capsule
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and stir until thoroughly combined.
2. Poke a hole in the end of the Vitamin E capsule and squeeze to release oil into ingredients.
3. Place mixture in an airtight container and store in a cool dark place.
4. To use: Wet skin and scoop a small amount onto skin, rubbing gently in a circular motion
Like with any beauty product, make sure that you avoid getting the scrub in or near your eyes. Despite it’s many benefits, some people find cinnamon to be an irritant, so be sure to test scrub on a small patch of skin first. It may cause some mild redness but this usually fades within a few minutes- however, use with your own discretion. Do not use more than once a week- this is some powerful stuff, people!
What is your favorite use for cinnamon?

Such an easy to make recipe. I am going to try this weekend! I wonder if it will make a great contender to my Kate Somerville Exfolikate scrub.

This smells wonderful but is quit messy when putting on and it stained my washcloth. The brown color is also hard to get off your face.
