This post is brought to you by Naked Nutrition, but all opinions are my own.
One of the most important nutrients that your body needs is protein- and I’ve always struggled to get enough of it.
I am not strictly vegan, but I only eat meat a few times a week and usually only for dinner. I do enjoy quite a few foods with plant-based proteins in them, but the body needs SO much protein! Add to that how active I am- especially in the summer, when I swim laps multiple times a week- and I really needed to find something to fill the gap in my protein needs.
I’ve tried protein shakes before but have always been put off by the ingredients- I spend so much of my diet on plant-based options, it felt really weird to start drinking collagen every day. {This is not a judgement if you do- it just wasn’t for me!}
When I got an email from Naked Nutrition telling me about their brand new, VEGAN protein shake? I knew I HAD to try it!
I was already a fan of Naked Nutrition- I’ve had their protein cookies which are delicious. Those do contain animal products in the form of grass-fed whey protein, so while I do enjoy them a couple of times a week, I was even more excited about a vegan option from a brand that I already know is delicious! {Keep reading to find out what I thought of the Naked Shake!}
How do you use Naked Shake?
Just add two scoops of your Naked Shake of choice to water- or to your favorite drink, like plant-based milk! I usually just use it with water since it’s easy, but when I need a little extra something I stir it into either Original or Chocolate Almond Milk and it’s like a dessert that’s good for me!
What makes Naked Nutrition different?
Naked Nutrition gets their name from the fact that they don’t hide their ingredients. They’re super transparent about what goes into their products, and they only put what’s absolutely needed in each one. Many of their products have 3 ingredients or less- none of the fillers or extra stuff that many other companies include.
What does Naked Nutrition sell?
Protein is a major part of their offerings- including Protein Cookies, Protein Powders, Protein Baking Mixes and now, Vegan Protein Shakes!
In addition, they sell supplements including multivitamins, peptides, and more.
What vegan products do they sell?
The vegan protein product that I tried- and, spoiler alert, loved- is the Naked Shake. It comes in Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry Banana, PB Blueberry, Chocolate Peanut Butter, and Chocolate Coconut Almond.
What is in the Naked Shake?
Each variety of Naked Shake starts with pea protein and includes MCT oil. Then depending on the flavor, it includes either a strawberry banana juice blend, natural plant-based flavors, or a natural peanut butter blueberry blend. You can see the entire ingredient list before you order so you won’t have any surprises!
The Pea Protein in the Naked Shake is one of the best plant protein sources for maintaining or building lean muscle. It has a wide range of amino acids that help with muscle growth and repair- and it’s easily digested!
What are the health benefits of the Naked Shake?
Each serving of Naked Shake includes 20g of protein and only 3g of sugar. It’s perfect for maintaining energy levels throughout the day!
Making sure you get enough protein daily also helps with muscle growth and maintenance, metabolic function, tissue repair, wound healing, immune function, enzyme and hormone production, and even healthy hair, skin and nails. Long story short- a little pea protein goes a long way!
So what did I actually think of the Naked Shake?
Guys, it’s seriously so good.
It reminds me of a vanilla milkshake, but since it doesn’t have a crazy amount of sugar it’s just the right amount of sweetness.
The texture of protein drinks can be make it or break it for me, and this one absolutely nails it. I didn’t feel like I was having to chew like some other protein drinks- this was a genuine drink. That said, it was thick enough that it fueled me up properly for a great swim session!
I tried the Naked Shake a few days in a row before a swim and each time I found myself able to go for longer since I wasn’t getting super hungry halfway through, like what tends to happen without it. I didn’t have any weird sugar crashes, either!
If you’ve been looking for a delicious way to add more protein to your diet- whether you’re vegan or not- I highly recommend the Naked Shake! You can get it online at Naked Nutrition’s website here.
