Growing up, we didn’t really do anything for St. Patrick’s Day- even though my Mom’s Irish. If we forgot to wear green we got pinched all day at school, and that’s pretty much where it ended.
But over the years St. Patrick’s Day has become a pretty big thing for kids- for the last six years I’ve had to help build at least one leprechaun trap with my kids for homework {unfortunately, we’re yet to catch one} and we always have some sort of delicious green treat {like this St. Patrick’s Day Parfait}.
Another fun thing we like to do for St. Patrick’s Day is have a scavenger hunt! Inspired by the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, our scavenger hunts are a fun way to give the kids a small gift and gives them something to look forward to that doesn’t take a lot of work. And now with this free printable scavenger hunt, it’s easier than ever to set up!

Tips for the Best Scavenger Hunt Ever
Make sure there’s a prize!
The best treasure hunts have a prize- but it can be something small, like a note from a leprechaun or a few chocolate gold coins. Or you can go as big as you want!
Make sure you put the clues in the right order- and in the right places.
Read each clue to see where the next one belongs! These clues were purposely made using things every home has {fridge, bed, couch, etc.} but some may be open to interpretation {where you check the mail- if you don’t have a mailbox, put it where you leave the mail when you get it!} If you REALLY can’t do a clue for some reason, you can totally just skip it- just make sure you skip the one that leads you to that location, not the one that they’d find there.
Let the kids try to figure it out!
Depending on the age of your child, it can be really tempting to nudge them in the right direction. You should totally do that if they need help, but give them a solid chance to figure it out first! You might be surprised by how clever your kids are!
