We received a Toniebox and set of figurines to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.
After a long day of virtual school, I like to encourage the kids to do something away from screens for a bit. I’m not against screen time at all, but I definitely think there needs to be a balance.
We recently received something that helps us strike the perfect balance between the kids wanting to be entertained and me wanting to have them offline for a bit- the Toniebox!
What Are Toniebox and Tonie Figurines?
The Toniebox is an audio companion that can play sing-along songs, read stories, and even share educational content. It reminds me of my days in the 90’s listening to audiobooks and movie soundtracks on tape- but the Toniebox is even better!
Not only does Toniebox sound way better than my 90’s stereo, but it looks cooler, has fun Tonie figurines loaded with content, and is super kid-friendly.
Each Tonie figurine has different content- there are some Disney ones that feature stories and favorite songs, some character ones with classic tales on them, and even some Creative-Tonies, which you can use to record up to 90 minutes of your own custom content, like reading your child’s favorite story or singing their favorite lullaby.
Then when it’s time to play, all kids have to do is grab the Tonie figurine that they want to play with and listen to and put it right on top of the Toniebox. They can adjust the volume by squeezing the ears, or rewind and fast-forward by tilting the box. It’s SO easy for even little kids to use!
Who Are Tonies Good For?
Tonies {Toniebox and Tonie figurines} are designed to be used by kids ages 3 and up. The figurines are a great size for little hands {and can totally be played with as toys when kids aren’t listening to them!} and the Toniebox is easy to use. Kids can sing along, listen to stories, and use their imaginations to engage with Tonie figurines and to develop their pre-reading skills even before they can read.
What did we think?
The Kids
Zac really liked trying each Tonie and seeing what it could do. His favorite one was The Little Mermaid {it’s one of his favorite movies!} and he also really liked the pup!
Mom’s Thoughts
I love Tonies and I’m really excited about them! I love that the figurines can be used as toys when not in use, encouraging even more imaginative play. I appreciate how simple the whole thing is to use- kids can definitely handle their whole time playing with it on their own, which could buy a parent a bit of time to catch up on things that need to be done.
The Toniebox is modern looking so it looks nice on a shelf, whether it’s in the living room or a kid’s bedroom. And I love watching Zac get so engaged while listening to stories, just like I did when I was his age!
How to Buy
The Tonies starter set comes with a Toniebox, a Creative Tonie, and one additional Tonie. Keep in mind you do need the Toniebox for the Tonies to work! Additional Tonies are sold separately.
