Now that Shane is in first grade, it seems like he’s always busy. He’s at school for 6 hours a day and then when he comes home he has several types of homework to do. He also has a few light chores around the house, and lately he’s been really into writing stories {the apple doesn’t fall far and all that}. He’s still just six years old though, so it’s important for him to spend some time actually relaxing and being a kid. That’s where video games come in.
Shane is a huge fan of video games and has been for awhile now. He likes several different games but his newest love is the Yo-kai Watch game for his Nintendo 3DS XL! Yo-kai Watch is a video game craze from Japan that has just arrived in the United States, and can only be played on the Nintendo 2DS & 3DS families of systems. Shane’s whole school has been talking about Yo-kai Watch- both the game and the TV show- for weeks so Shane was SO excited to get his hands on the game!
Of course, the game arrived while Shane was at school so I just had to give it a go first. I can not get over how incredible the 3D animation is- without even wearing 3D glasses- and even with the 3D effects turned off the graphics are stunning. I have to say that Nintendo games have come a long way since my Gameboy days! The Yo-kai Watch game was really cute, and I loved the cute little characters that are always up to mischief! In the game, players have to find and befriend the Yo-kai that inhabit the gamew orld and turn them into a team that can battle other Yo-kai! I love that it encourages imagination and really gets Shane thinking about what to do next.
As a bonus, Yo-kai Watch really helped us on our recent travels! We went to Colorado for Spring Break last week and Shane spent a lot of time playing the game on the way there! It was really great to see something hold his attention for that long, and it made the trip much easier on him.
Yo-kai Watch is available now, online and wherever video games are sold for $39.99 MSRP. You can learn more about Yo-kai Watch on their website, or learn more about Nintendo on Facebook or Twitter.
