Shane is really good with technology. He knew how to work an iPad before I did since he used one at my in-laws house, and knows how to do everything on my iPhone and Justin’s Android- and I can barely navigate the Android. There are a lot of educational games out there for kids so I have no problem letting Shane use electronics as long as I have approved the game.
The problem is, he’s three, and has a tendency to drop things. A lot. I’m always worried that he’s going to break my phone- plus I get tired of not being able to use my phone because he has it. &Though I’ve set restrictions, he still gets around them sometimes when his apps have ads in them.
If your child is always begging to use your phone or tablet but you’re worried about them breaking it or accessing things they shouldn’t {YouTube, anyone?}, you NEED the LeapPad2. The design is kid-friendly and Shane has put it to the test by dropping it twice from our high bed onto our wood floor & it suffered NO damage. {Plus, even if it DID break- we’d be out $100, not $700.}
We didn’t have the original LeapPad so I can’t compare it to the previous version, but I do know that this has some new features the other one didn’t, like the camera on the front {which my son loves because he is a total ham & loves taking pictures of himself} and the memory size which is TWICE as big at 4GB. It can also be used with a recharger {sold separately} which we’re looking to invest in because we use this daily & it’ll pay for itself very quickly when compared to battery cost.
I love that there are SO many games, books, and apps available for the LeapPad2- you can use any digital app or game cartridge from the entire LeapPad & LeapFrog Explorer selection. By the end of this year, that will be over 325 options- he’ll definitely never get bored! It’s easy to find something for every kid, too- they have lots of different characters {Brave, Phineas & Ferb, Team Umizoomi, etc.} and lots of different styles of activities. Some are interactive books, some are for creating things, and some are just purely for fun. They all have some educational aspect to them though!
Playing games or reading books on the LeapPad is easy & fun. The games don’t lag, the graphics are phenomenal for a kid’s product {even better than many iPhone apps we have!} and of course feature characters that Shane loves. Since the LeapPad is for ages 3-9, the selection includes simpler options for the three year olds like Shane & more complicated games for older kids. The games even automatically adjust themselves to accommodate your child’s current level. I love that this product will grow with him & that he could very well use it for the next 6 years and still learn from it the entire time.

We don’t have a Leappad at all, but if we did, I would love for it to come with Medical-Anatomy puzzle games. Kids are like sponges and they get curious about the body and how it works. I think that learning about the skeleton system, and digestive system to name a few, are some of the body systems and parts that they could learn, and that information would be very useful even at early age. Kids love to know how things work, what better than our own bodies, no? That’s my very own opinion.

My grandsons don’t have any LeapPad items. I would like to get them anything like the Letter Factory that will help them learn their letters and words.

Even my father-in-law loves the leap pad! He played with one at Walmart!
My son’s favorite is the Tag reading tool.
We have the magnetic letter/phonics set and my son has learned all of the letters and sounds from playing with it.
we don’t have any leapfrog items right now, but a leap pad is on the list for Christmas this year
we dont have one but i was hoping to win this so i didnt have to spend the money on it for christmas. my toddler son would LOOOOOVE a leappad!

He loves Scout and baby Scout. When he moved out of our room my husband wanted to keep baby Scout since we were so used to going to sleep to his bedtime music. We have included baby Scout in several baby gifts since we have enjoyed ours so much.

Leap Frog is a great toy company. We have quite a few different products. My son’s love the tag reading system as well as the Leap Pad. These products keep them occupied for hours!
The only LeapFrog toy we have right now is an ABC book, but my 3-year-old daughter loves it!

My 3 year old twin boys love their little My Little Leaptop toys. They are beginning to outgrow it a bit I think, they’d much rather play with my iPod or Kindle (which I am scared to death they will break on me!)
They don’t have a LeapFrog toy, but they do absolutely love their LeapFrog movies & the LeapFrog apps I have on my phone!
