LeapPad2 Review and Giveaway!

Shane is really good with technology. He knew how to work an iPad before I did since he used one at my in-laws house, and knows how to do everything on my iPhone and Justin’s Android- and I can barely navigate the Android. There are a lot of educational games out there for kids so I have no problem letting Shane use electronics as long as I have approved the game.

The problem is, he’s three, and has a tendency to drop things. A lot. I’m always worried that he’s going to break my phone- plus I get tired of not being able to use my phone because he has it. &Though I’ve set restrictions, he still gets around them sometimes when his apps have ads in them.

If your child is always begging to use your phone or tablet but you’re worried about them breaking it or accessing things they shouldn’t {YouTube, anyone?}, you NEED the LeapPad2. The design is kid-friendly and Shane has put it to the test by dropping it twice from our high bed onto our wood floor & it suffered NO damage. {Plus, even if it DID break-  we’d be out $100, not $700.}

We didn’t have the original LeapPad so I can’t compare it to the previous version, but I do know that this has some new features the other one didn’t, like the camera on the front {which my son loves because he is a total ham & loves taking pictures of himself} and the memory size which is TWICE as big at 4GB. It can also be used with a recharger {sold separately} which we’re looking to invest in because we use this daily & it’ll pay for itself very quickly when compared to battery cost.

I love that there are SO many games, books, and apps available for the LeapPad2- you can use any digital app or game cartridge from the entire LeapPad & LeapFrog Explorer selection. By the end of this year, that will be over 325 options- he’ll definitely never get bored! It’s easy to find something for every kid, too- they have lots of different characters {Brave, Phineas & Ferb, Team Umizoomi, etc.} and lots of different styles of activities. Some are interactive books, some are for creating things, and some are just purely for fun. They all have some educational aspect to them though!

Playing games or reading books on the LeapPad is easy & fun. The games don’t lag, the graphics are phenomenal for a kid’s product {even better than many iPhone apps we have!} and of course feature characters that Shane loves. Since the LeapPad is for ages 3-9, the selection includes simpler options for the three year olds like Shane & more complicated games for older kids. The games even automatically adjust themselves to accommodate your child’s current level. I love that this product will grow with him & that he could very well use it for the next 6 years and still learn from it the entire time.

  5. My son doesn’t have anything from Leapfrog that he currently plays with. Last year we looked and looked for a Leap Pad and they were sold out, we ended up getting him the VTech Innotab instead. He would be so thrilled if we won this one!

  8. We husband and I were talking about this as a potential “big gift” for Christmas this year for our son; he was just too young for the LeapPad last year. I’m glad we decided to wait. (and I would live to regain ownership of my iPhone again, lol!)

  30. My Daughter doesn’t have any Leapfrog toys, I always wanted to get Violet for her but havent been able to get it for her and she’s prob getting too old for it now. The latest toy i want for her from leapfrog is the leappad 2, we are hoping we can afford it for her for christmas if we dont get lucky enough to win it from here for her ofcourse. 😀

  33. I was having a hard time deciding on the leappad2 and the innotab2 but the apps outside of the Disney character-driven ones won me over to the leappad2. Thanks for the contest!

  54. Sadly, we do not own any LeapFrog products. We have been eyeing the LeapPad for our 3 years birthday or Christmas. He spends so much time on our phones, playing not so education games, I think the LeapPad would be great for him!

  66. My daughter loves leapfrog we own many items. I am actually anxious to try out the leappad. I heard wonderful things about it. We own many of the leapfrog movies as well. Right now her favorite is her leapster she plays it almost every day. I love that it’s educational and still fun leapfrog is an amazing company to which I will remain loyal. Winning this would be absolutely amazing, a dream come true and such a blessing right now. thank you so much for the entry and I’m crossing my fingers ever so tightly that we are the lucky winner.     • I would give this to my 5 yr old Grandson that lives with us. He just started kindergarten.. He would enjoy this ..He doesnt have any leapster toys that i am aware of. But I would definitely go with something educational. He loves to learn

  117. We don’t have a Leappad at all, but if we did, I would love for it to come with Medical-Anatomy puzzle games. Kids are like sponges and they get curious about the body and how it works. I think that learning about the skeleton system, and digestive system to name a few, are some of the body systems and parts that they could learn, and that information would be very useful even at early age. Kids love to know how things work, what better than our own bodies, no? That’s my very own opinion.

  167. The leap pad (original) it’s old. it was a hand me down from her older brother. The books are old and wore out… But’s it’s teaching her to read all the same, just as it did her brother. She needs the new one..

  184. My kids love all their Leap Frog toys. My daughter has the Tag Reader and the Explorer and both kids have a Leap Pad. I would love this one for my youngest son who will be 2 in January but has to have everything my 3 and 5 year old have too.

  247. I would love this for my 3 1/2 yr old. We have an ipad that is actually my husband’s work ipad and we let our son use it to keep him busy during his older brother’s 2 hr football practices. I’m so afraid he’s going to break it so this would be perfect for him. We love leapfrog products. We have a few dvds and a leap stuffed frog toy.

  286. He loves Scout and baby Scout. When he moved out of our room my husband wanted to keep baby Scout since we were so used to going to sleep to his bedtime music. We have included baby Scout in several baby gifts since we have enjoyed ours so much.

  322. My 3 year old twin boys love their little My Little Leaptop toys. They are beginning to outgrow it a bit I think, they’d much rather play with my iPod or Kindle (which I am scared to death they will break on me!)

  342. I’m not very familiar with the games but ones that deal with couting or abc’s would be AMAZING!! Also, if they can have Mickey Mouse he’d go nuts playing it like crazy!! 🙂
