Halloween has always been a little different at our house- we’re not big on scary stuff, but we do like Halloween! We tend to stick to the cuter side of things- adorable little ghosts, cute black cats, and of course- lots and lots of cute Halloween treats!
Halloween night is known for it’s candy, but I start the “treat” part of “trick or treat” very early at my house! One of my favorite things is making fun Halloween treats throughout the season and are always looking to try new ones!
This year I asked some of my blogging friends for their favorite Halloween sweet treats and they did not disappoint! Whether you’re looking for easy Halloween treats to send in your kid’s lunchbox or the perfect spread for Halloween parties, you’re sure to find something perfectly spooky {but cute!} here. From caramel apples to spider cookies, these easy Halloween desserts are perfect for the whole family. Click on the title of any fun treat below to see the full recipe!
How can I involve my kids in making Halloween Treats?
If your kids are really little, you might be making these on your own for them to enjoy. But if they’re big enough to help in the kitchen {which starts much sooner than you might think!} then making Halloween treats together can be a really great way to make memories!
Here are some tips to make this fun for everyone involved:
Choose kid-friendly recipes {or at least kid-friendly steps}: Some of these recipes will be huge hits with the kids- but might be too hard for them to make. Read ahead to make sure the recipe has steps that your kids can help with. If the recipe is too hard for them, they’ll get frustrated and no one will have fun.
Let them pick the recipe: If you let the kids pick the treats they’re making, they’re way more likely to want to help! Just be sure to check and make sure the treats are within their skill level!
Assign age-appropriate tasks: If they’re still pretty young, let them help with easy tasks like cracking eggs or stirring. Older kids can help with most steps, but you’ll want to make sure you can assist where needed.
Teach measuring skills: This one is great because not only does this teach kids the life lesson of how to measure ingredients properly {super important in baking!} but also doubles as a math lesson they won’t realize they’re learning!
What are some creative ways to present Halloween treats?
Halloween is such a fun time to go overboard- and that includes presentation! I’ve made some Char-BOO-terie boards the last few years that have been huge hits with my kids, but there are so many other fun options.
You could store treats in a witch’s cauldron, or make a haunted house gingerbread house to use as a centerpiece for your dessert table.
Of course, you can always keep it simple and fill up some spooky jars or set up a tiered stand! Whatever works for you will be just great.
