Slow cooker recipes are so convenient on busy days when you have a lot of things to do! The cooking time for these easy meals is of course much longer so you have to plan ahead, but you really can’t beat the minimal effort and prep time for most crockpot recipes- especially this one!
In just about five minutes, you can set yourself up for a delicious dinner time by evening. This crock pot Hawaiian Chicken recipe is such an easy recipe to throw together in your slow cooker- and at dinnertime you’ll just need to make some rice (brown rice, white rice, Jasmine rice and cauliflower rice all work great)!
This Crockpot Hawaiian Chicken recipe is a perfect choice for anyone looking for a flavorful and easy to make meal- especially one that the whole family will love! It only requires four ingredients and the best part is that your home will smell amazing all day as it cooks!
Can I use fresh chicken breasts for Sweet Hawaiian Crockpot Chicken?
Yes! The six hours listed in this recipe is for frozen chicken, so if you’ll be cooking with fresh chicken be sure to check your chicken much earlier. For the same amount of chicken that isn’t frozen you should expect it to take about 4-5 hours in the slow cooker. Chicken is fully cooked when it reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.
Can I use boneless skinless chicken thighs instead of boneless skinless chicken breasts?
Absolutely- I love chicken thighs too! If you’re using frozen chicken thighs just cook the recipe as stated, but if you’re using fresh chicken thighs be sure to follow the amended directions above.
Can I add vegetables to the crockpot?
Yes! You can add your favorite veggies- some of my favorites to pair with this meal include red bell peppers, green bell pepper, onions and carrots. You can even add pineapple if you’re looking to add some fruit! Just make sure to check to make sure your veggies are cooked as well when you’re done making the chicken.
Can I make slow cooker Hawaiian Chicken ahead of time and freeze it?
This recipe is awesome to make ahead, especially if you have a large slow cooker and can make a large batch all at once. Just make it according to the listed directions, and store the part you want to save in an airtight container or plastic bag in the freezer. When you’re ready to cook, thaw the mixture in the fridge overnight and cook it in the crockpot as directed.
Can I use fresh pineapple juice?
Definitely- just make sure you grab pure pineapple juice without added sugars! Tip: You can even use orange juice instead of pineapple juice for a slightly less sweet version of this dish!
Can you make Crockpot Pineapple Chicken in the Instant Pot instead?
Don’t have time to cook dinner in the slow cooker or want to make it even faster next time? You can make this dish in the instant pot too! You’ll still get tender chicken in a sweet and savory sauce with just a few simple ingredients. Here’s how:
- Add the pineapple juice, brown sugar and soy sauce to the Instant Pot. Whisk until well combined.
- Add the chicken breast to the Instant Pot and close the lid {double check that your valve is set to sealing!}
- Press the manual or pressure cook button {depending on your machine} and set the timer to 8 minutes.
- Once the timer goes off, let the pressure release naturally for 5 minutes, then carefully quick release any remaining pressure.
- Remove the chicken from the Instant Pot and shred it with a fork.
- Set the Instant Pot to saute mode and let the sauce simmer for a few minutes until it thickens.
- Add the shredded chicken back into the Instant Pot and stir until it’s coated in sauce.
- Serve over a small bowl of rice and enjoy!
