We all have our favorite appetizers that we just can’t say no to, and for me? That’s Spinach Artichoke Dip!
I don’t even remember when I first discovered it, but since whenever that was it’s become my go-to for any restaurant. I’ve even been known to pick where to eat based on how good their spinach dip is!
Spinach Artichoke Dip is always best hot & fresh, so it’s not a great contender for the curbside pickup or delivery options we’ve been using for the last couple of years. So it was time to learn to make it myself from home!
This Spinach Artichoke Dip recipe is made in the slow cooker for two reasons: it makes it SUPER simple to cook, and it keeps it hot & fresh! You can scoop a little bit into a ramekin and leave the rest in the slow cooker to keep it warm while you eat the first bit.
Or if you’re having a party, it’s perfect for making a large batch for a whole crowd! Check out how easy it is to make this Crock Pot Spinach Artichoke Dip:
How can I make this Slow Cooker Spinach Artichoke Dip dairy-free?
I’m lactose intolerant, so I like to make plant-based swaps whenever I can. The recipe included below is for a regular, dairy filled version, but I’ve found great swaps for most of the dairy-based ingredients in this recipe at my local grocery store, including the cream cheese, mayo, and sour cream.
The one thing I haven’t found a substitution for yet is parmesan cheese, but if you’re just lactose intolerant and not fully dairy-free, you may be able to handle parmesan as it’s commonly tolerable by those with lactose intolerance. Everyone’s body is different though so feel free to skip it or sub it if you find a plant-based option! {And if you do find one, let me know!}
How can you make Crock Pot Spinach Artichoke Dip for a crowd?
This recipe as written is about 6 servings, but let’s be real it’s so good you’re going to want more than one serving. You can feed more people with this recipe by simply doubling or even tripling it- just be sure your crock pot is big enough to handle it! The recipe as written requires a 1.5 quart slow cooker but you can get {affiliate link!} a 3 qt. slow cooker here or even a 5 qt. slow cooker here.
Your cooking method will remain the same though, and three hours should still be plenty to cook it. If not, add more cooking time and just check on it in 10-15 minute increments until it’s to your liking!
Can the Kids Help Make This Recipe?
Kids can ALWAYS help in the kitchen! This recipe is so simple, they can help with the entire process. Just be sure to be mindful of them when getting the dip out of the slow cooker- the dip and the slow cooker itself will both be hot!
