I was compensated by HoneyMaid Snacks but all opinions are my own.
Now that summer is winding down, we’re trying to make the most of all the time we have left. The kids have been home with me for over a year, but this year they’re going in person- a huge adjustment for all of us! Before they go back, I’m trying to make our summer BIG- but that doesn’t always mean a lot of work. Sometimes it just means making a big impact and putting a big smile on their faces, without having to do a lot to make it happen.
We’ve been spending lots of time together, whether that’s exploring our town or just in our living room. We have had a lot of movie nights and water balloon fights, and even the occasional pool day. But it’s not all about the big moments- sometimes those smaller moments are the sweetest ones!
And I mean that literally- like when I set up a s’mores bar in the backyard recently! It was SO easy to set up- I’ll show you how I did it so you can do it for your family, too!
First, I got all the supplies- Honey Maid Honey Graham Crackers, Jet-Puffed Marshmallows, and Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Candy Bars. All three are easy to pick up at your local Walmart, whether you’re shopping in-store or with online grocery pickup. I’ve been buying our groceries with Online Pickup for a few years now, so that’s what I did- which means I was in and out of there in just a few minutes!
When I got home, I printed out these super cute {if I do say so myself} cards to make it a little more fancy. If you want to do that too, you can grab the free printable tags right here!
I also printed these favor bag tags so the kids could each have a little s’mores kit for later, too! I plan on having a s’mores bar a couple more times before summer is over and I’d love to have family join us next time. This would be a great takeaway gift for friends or family who come over to share a sweet treat!
After I printed everything, I put the ingredients for the best s’mores ever in fancy jars- I’m telling you, these little touches make a classic treat seem fancy!
Then, I called the kids out and showed them the big surprise- and they were so excited! They came over to the s’mores station and loaded up on the ingredients they’d need, then we went over to the tabletop fire pit to roast our marshmallows!
With close adult supervision, we roasted our marshmallows and once they were nice and toasty, we turned them into some delicious s’mores. We all enjoyed our super gooey, chocolately s’mores and of course, the kids asked for more- so I gave them their favor bags and told them they could have another one the next day!
If you’re looking for a simple way to end summer in a big way, I highly suggest hosting a s’mores bar. Whether you’re setting it up for just your family or entertaining others, it’s a great way to spend time together and have fun while eating a delicious treat. All of the ingredients are available at a great price at Walmart and between these free printables and any dishes you have at home, you can make a fancy setup using things you have around the house!
