During the weekdays, our mornings are so rushed that I’m always trying to get breakfast on the table in the fastest way possible. Usually that means bowls of cereal or on really late mornings, granola bars. Plus, my husband leaves for work at 4am so it’s just me and the kiddos.
But on the weekends? We’re all together, and breakfast doesn’t happen until around 10am. That gives me plenty of time to whip something up that everyone will love- like these SUPER easy Air Fryer Donuts made with premade biscuit dough!
That said, I don’t even need the extra time the weekends provide to make these- they take about 2 minutes of prep and then they go in the air fryer for 8 minutes, during which time we could be getting ready to go. So really, these would even be a great weekday breakfast!
Whenever you’re enjoying these donut bites, they’re sure to be a hit. Delicious, hot, and cinnamon sugary, these are a total crowd pleaser!
What kind of biscuit dough should I use to make air fryer donuts?
I used Pillsbury, but honestly any canned refrigerated dough would work. Be sure to check your bites at the end to make sure they’re as baked as they should be, but it should be pretty much the same cooking times/temp for all brands.
Are these gluten free?
As you may have guessed, the biscuits kind of rule this out of being gluten-free. All the other ingredients are, but I am yet to find a good substitute for canned biscuit dough that is gluten-free. If you do happen to find gluten-free canned biscuit dough, let me know so I can share with others who want to try this recipe!
Can the Kids Help?
Kids can ALWAYS help in the kitchen! That said, there aren’t a whole lot of steps to this recipe, so it may be tricky finding something for them to do.
For this recipe, I’d suggest letting them help with:
- Putting the biscuit pieces in the air fryer basket- as long as it isn’t preheated!
- Combining the cinnamon and sugar in a bag
- Shaking the bag to coat the donuts with the cinnamon sugar- this part is especially fun for kids! Just make sure that bag is closed REALLY tight!
I’d also suggest that you keep all the tasks involving the hot air fryer for yourself- and also basting the hot biscuit donut bites with butter.
