One of the best parts of Easter is gathering everyone around the table to decorate Easter eggs. We don’t usually dye them- we have a lot of different ways we decorate them instead!
We started out with plastic eggs and an assortments of stickers when the kids were little, which they absolutely loved. We let them pick out their own stickers to use and gave them lots of eggs to decorate.
When they got older, we still didn’t dye them because our school district’s spring break is the week leading up to easter, so we were out of town right up until the night before easter- not the best for dyeing real eggs. We didn’t want to have to drive home with real, stinky eggs for 12 hours- so we started buying wooden eggs and then later, craft eggs.
Anyway, over the year we’ve switched it up a few times and decorated them all different ways, like painting, using stickers, using markers, and even adding glitter {that year was a bit messy}.
An added benefit of using craft eggs every year is that we can keep them and reuse the eggs every year! Every spring when we unpack our Easter stuff, we get to look at the eggs from years past and remember each year! It’s almost like our Easter version of Christmas ornaments.
