After what has felt like a six year long January, it’s finally just about February- and it’s almost Valentine’s Day! I don’t know about you, but Valentine’s Day tends to sneak up on me. We like to do little goodie bags and of course, some really cute Valentine’s Day cards!
Zac always brings home a huge bag of candy from Valentine’s Day parties at school. While I don’t mind the kids having candy for special occasions, when the whole class brings it in it’s just too much- so much of it gets wasted! So this year I wanted to share some non-candy Valentine’s Day cards ideas for kids so you can make cute cards with your kids- without adding more sugar that parents will just throw away.

First up? These adorable Valentine’s Day “You Make My Heart Race” Cards! They take just a few supplies- including some cute toy cars {which aren’t as expensive as you think!} and just a few minutes to make with the free printable found below.

How to find toy cars for cheap
You can always go generic to save a few dollars- there are some great off-brand cars out there, like this set from Amazon- this pack of 100 is less than $20!
If you do want to go name brand {Hot Wheels are classic for a reason- they’re great quality and hold up!} you can save a bit by buying in bulk. Also check Target on Thursdays- that’s when toys go on clearance and you might get lucky and find some Hot Wheels!
Even at full price though, Hot Wheels are generally about $1 or so a car so you can decide the best route for you based on your budget and the size of your child’s class.

Tips for printing and cutting
These require cardstock paper- regular paper will rip under the car. I recommend bright white to make the design pop, but you can feel free to get creative if you want! {Grab some Bright White Cardstock here.}
To make cutting both faster and more accurate, I recommend using a paper cutter. {Grab one here.} This is totally optional but makes it a lot easier. Keep in mind kids will definitely need adult assistance with this step if you use a paper cutter!
Of course, if you have your kiddo do the cutting with kid scissors it’ll help them build up their fine motor skills!
