One of my favorite holiday movies from this year was The Nutcracker and Four Realms, inspired by {of course} the classic ballet The Nutcracker. When I was invited to the World Premiere of the movie back in October, I knew I would need to dust off my dancing shoes- and I was right!
Dance is such an important part of the movie and to fully experience it, we had the chance to learn some moves from “Dancing with the Stars” pros and “Dancing with the Stars: Juniors” mentors Brandon Armstrong, Alan Bersten and Gleb Savchenko! We headed to Pro Dance LA {the studio Gleb and his wife own} to learn a routine to the song “Fall on Me” by Andrea Bocelli Featuring Matteo Bocelli from the movie. It’s a beautiful song- be sure to listen for it when you watch the movie!
It was such an amazing experience learning dance moves from pro dancers. I haven’t taken a dance class since elementary school but have always loved dance, and we all had so much fun!
We all broke into three teams based on the realms in the movie, and I was on the Realm of Flowers team led by Gleb Savchenko. All three teams learned the same basic dance, but our “coach” had us do a special surprise move to gain us some brownie points- and to make us stand out! In the end, they decided that we were all winners. You can read more about my experience here!
We learned this dance before we attended the premiere of the movie, so it was really fun to then watch the epitome of ballet, Misty Copeland, when she performed in the movie. She was absolutely stunning to watch and while none of us could come close to her level, it was fun to think we’d all danced to the same movie as her!
I was so excited about my new dance moves that when I got home a few days later I tried to teach the boys the steps. Zac actually really loved trying to copy the dance.
If you loved the dancing from The Nutcracker and the Four Realms as much as I did- or if you haven’t seen it yet and are missing out on the beauty- be sure to pick up your copy of the movie next Tuesday, January 29th! The movie will be available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD at retail locations near you or via Digital download if you prefer that. The movie will have a lot of bonus content as well, including a music video for the song we danced to so you can make up your own choreography at home!
