One of the toys my kids are always happy to play with is activity dough. Shane likes using tools to cut his own shapes, and Zac really loves using shape cutters to make things he can play with! Playing with dough also helps build skills, like fine motor control, imagination, and problem solving. It’s a great way to bond, too!
Now that Shane is back in school, Zac and I are spending time just the two of us again and I’m trying to find activities to do with him. Today we made this DIY Marshmallow Activity Dough to celebrate winter! This dough is so fun because not only is it sparkly and perfect for the season, but it smells delicious, too!
Supplies:
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup salt
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 teaspoon marshmallow flavoring
3/4 cup cold water
White glitter
Cookie cutters- like this snowflake one, and stampers, like these snowflakes!
Directions:
1 In a medium mixing bowl, whisk the flour and salt.
2 Add the oil, marshmallow flavoring and cold water and mix until well incorporated.
3 Remove the activity dough from the mixing bowl and place on a flat, lightly floured working surface. Knead the dough for about 4-5 minutes until a soft and elastic dough forms.
4 To make it even more fun, consider grabbing some fun tools to enhance your play! I love this set because it includes lots of tools, and fun shapes, too!
{Note: You can store the dough in sandwich bags for up to 3 months.}
If you’re looking for a fun activity to do with your kids, be sure to give this DIY dough a try!
