This little face looks so sweet & loving- and it is. But it’s also hiding something- a cold!
This picture was taken on New Year’s Eve, when Zac first came down with a horrible cold. It quickly spread to Shane, then to Justin, and then, finally, to me. It was a pretty bad cold, and lasted weeks– the cough lingered for me until just a few weeks ago!
With a toddler who likes to lick the grocery cart and a kindergartener who brings home germs daily, we just kind of expect to be sick this time of year. We are always prepared with a fully stocked medicine cabinet because the only thing worse than going to the store with two whiny kids is going to the store with two sick whiny kids. {My kids generally aren’t whiny, but something about shopping just brings it out- mostly because Shane wants all the things and Zac doesn’t understand why he can’t just dive headfirst out of the cart.}
We have all the basic necessities on hand should illness strike: tissues, cough drops, VapoRub, and the most important one of all for us grown-ups- DayQuil & NyQuil Severe! DayQuil and NyQuil are the only medicines that really work for me, and the Severe version is even more powerful.

Luckily our bout with the cold is over, but we’re not out of the woods yet. The weather here has been crazy and we’re about to roll into Spring Break season- and since I live in Vegas, that means plenty of tourists will be bringing lots of germs our way. While I’d rather not get sick in the first place, I know I won’t have to suffer too much with Vicks DayQuil Severe & NyQuil Severe on hand!
Be sure to pick up your DayQuil & NyQuil at your local Walmart! You can also purchase it from Walmart.com.
What’s your must-have medicine cabinet item?
Sherri says
I haven’t tried the severe formula yet. I keep the Dayquil sinus all the time and I used to keep Nyquil until they changed the formula. Maybe the “severe” formula will work as good as the original one used to
Sarah L says
I didn’t know about their severe formulas. Could have used them a month ago.
Lynsey Jones says
We keep BOTH of these in stock at our house. We very seldom ever get sick – but when we do, Dayquil/Nyquil is always my go-to fix.
Crystal says
When someone gets sick, it runs through our whole house. I’m grateful there’s relief when we need it!
Andrea says
I didn’t even know there was different formulas. My husband used to use Dayquil before we got married. 🙂 Thanks for the information, sometimes when it really lingers you just need something to help kick it.

Nyquil is my friend during cold and flu season! I always have it at home.

I love that infographic!
Both of the Quils are my must-have medicine cabinet items! They are SUCH life-savers!
Michelle says
Ugh, colds are the worst. I’ve always been a fan of both DayQuil and NyQuil so I’m glad to see they have new severe formulas!
Jeannette says
I just had a nasty cold a few weeks ago and tried this out! I really worked great and helped me make it through!
Tonya says
I love these products in tablet form. I hate to drink medications because I’m so finicky. This is a great idea.
Liz Mays says
I keep those on hand over here too. Between those and some ibuprofen, my medicine cabinet is pretty complete.
Valerie Remy-Milora says
What a precious angel! It is no fun when our little munchkins are sick. In our home those are times to indulge in a lot of extra cuddling 😉
Karen says
I have used Nyquil for years! I love that it works quickly and lets me sleep all night.
Marcie W. says
I always depend on NyQuil for a full night’s rest when those germs get the best of me. It really works well without side effects the following morning.
