Last week, I mentioned a brand new show for preschoolers I was excited to watch with Shane over the weekend, Julius Jr.! Having grown up with Paul Frank everything {&now having a monkey-obsessed preschooler who has his own Julius products} I was really excited to see Julius Jr. and see how the character would be!
The show premiered on Sunday morning so after breakfast, we cuddled up on the couch & tuned in. The show was a great mix of education and fun- exactly how I think preschool shows should be. There was a lot to be learned {even I learned something- the difference between a millipede & a centipede!} but there was even more to be learned for the target age group. Julius Jr. is an inventor & loves science, so there were lots of fun lessons.
On the flip side, there were definitely some silly things that you can expect from a kid’s show, like a {friendly} bug that turns into a giant while trying to turn into a butterfly- so big in fact that Julius & his friends can ride on it!
In addition to the science aspect, and the silly aspect, there was a friendship & caring aspect as well that I really appreciated. All of the characters are nice to each other &you can tell they’re great friends. They help each other when one is in need &are very positive role models!
Shane wasn’t watching the show for science knowledge or life lessons, that’s just what I was watching for. He was watching to see a monkey do lots of fun & silly things and he got his wish! I asked Shane what he thought about the show & he said that he really liked all of it, especially Julius, and then immediately asked to watch it again. I have it set up on my DVR to record every new episode so I can’t wait until the next one comes out, because I may have heard this show in the background five times since Sunday!
Julius Jr. is a funky monkey with a penchant for invention. Together with his best pals, Worry Bear, Sheree, Clancy and Ping, they build a playhouse out of a simple cardboard box, but when they step inside, to their surprise and delight, they discover a magical playroom where ordinary objects come to life and fantastic adventures are just a door away! Julius Jr. and his best pals are coming to Nick Jr. Sundays at 11am/10c starting September 29th.
Who will you watch Julius Jr. with?
{Psst- you can watch the first episode online at NickJr.com!}

Looks cute! I’ll have to see if Sweet T can be persuaded to turn Curious George off long enough to give this a try.

I saw your post last week and set our DVR to record it. My nieces and nephew were here for a sleepover and all the kids ended up watching it on Sunday morning. They range in age from 8-2 and they all enjoyed it! I’m glad you blogged about it so we could tune in 🙂

I learned the difference between a millipede and a centipede last night, when a millipede crawled into bed with me at 1 AM, LOL!!!
This little guy is so cute (Julius, not the millipede)!

So true, the kids just care if it’s cute and entertaining, great if they can love a show with learning weaved in without losing the “fun” aspect.

Oh, so cute! I love that you were able to learn something from the show, too! That’s a good sign that it’s a show for kids but it’s made by adults who recognize that it needs to be entertaining for the parents in the room!

Sounds like a cute show! I like shows that can keep the parents interest too!
Colleen says

I need to record this show for Bub to watch over the weekend! Since I’m a Paul Frank fan, I’m pretty anxious to give it a go myself.
