I’ve always loved taking photos. Long before I was a blogger, and even before I had kids, I would spend hours taking and editing shots of the most random things. I have pictures from elementary school of my stuffed animals all lined up in a row that I took on an old disposable camera. In high school, I used my first digital camera {a point & shoot} to capture selfies while deep in concentration {as teens are known to do}. Now as a mom and blogger, I use a heavy duty DSLR to capture everything from cookies to crafts to, of course, my kids.

Canon Rebel

As my subject matter has grown up, my camera has, too- from the disposable camera with the wind-up flash to the point and shoot to the primative cell phone camera to the real deal. If you have someone in your life who has been wanting a “grown up camera”, be sure to check out this amazing deal going on at Best Buy just in time for the holidays!

Get Sweet Rewards from DD Perks from Dunkin’ Donuts

I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Dunkin’ Brands. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

Since we had Zachary, Shane has had to share the spotlight. We try to give him as much individual attention as we can, but between having a baby and him being in school, it’s not always easy to fit time in. I help him with his homework and he gets to go with Daddy every Saturday to go get breakfast. Every weekend when I take Zac to his baby class, Justin takes Shane to Dunkin’ Donuts- it’s become a tradition that we all look forward to all week!

Mother's Day 2014 #shop #cbias #SayCheeseburger

I even got Dunkin’ Donuts as part of my Mother’s Day present this year!

Since we are there so much, I was really excited to hear about their loyalty program! DD Perks rewards you for your purchases by giving you points that are redeemable for free Dunkin’ Donuts beverages! You earn five points for every dollar you spend whenever you pay using an enrolled Dunkin’ Donuts card, whether you’re using a plastic card or the Dunkin’ Mobile App {which, by the way, is super easy to use}. Once you get 200 points, you receive a coupon for a beverage of your choice- it’s that easy!

June5_AM_FB

Not only do you earn free beverage perks, but sometimes Dunkin’ Donuts adds surprises to DD Perks accounts. When DD Perks surpassed one million members in June, they deposited 100 bonus points into every existing account and offered 100 bonus points to new members for a week!

How to Survive Black Friday and Cyber Monday

Black Friday is not for the weak. Eating way too much food and then trekking all over town to shop {sometimes in the evening, but often in the middle of the night} is not my idea of a good time. Now, I love to shop and I love sales, so I sort of get the appeal. But I don’t like crowds or the bad attitudes that can come with shopping at 2am.

That said, saving money {especially during the holidays} always makes sense, so while I may not be elbowing people for the last box of Christmas lights, I still shop on Black Friday- just, online. Along with shopping from home, here are my tips for saving your sanity while saving some money on Black Friday:

How to Survive Black Friday and Cyber Monday

1. Have a shopping list. It’s easy to be lured into good deals, but it actually costs you more if it’s not something you actually need or were planning on getting. Have a list of the must-have items for your holiday gifts {or things you just happen to need but want to try to score for cheap} and try to stick to it.

2. Scout out deals ahead of time. The reason for this is two-fold. First of all, sometimes items run out of stock quickly {even online} so you need to jump on the sale when it starts! The other reason is that you might find an item on your list on sale at one place and snatch up the deal, but then find it for even cheaper a few minutes later. Know where your wish list items will be on sale and the cheapest place to find them!

3. Go at off-hours. If you aren’t buying anything that will sell out immediately or that is only on sale for a short time, you don’t have to be at the store right when it opens. Many stores are open throughout the night and early morning, and many stores will have downtime that will allow you to shop in peace without crowds or long lines.

4. Shop online. You don’t have to wait for Cyber Monday to score good deals online. Many stores offer sales online on Black Friday- sometimes the same as in-store! Many stores actually offer large sales throughout the entire weekend.

5. Have a shopping buddy! If you hit a store with a particularly long line or you’re just running in for an item or two, you can have them stand in line for you while you get the item {or vice versa}. Or of course, you could also just take them along for the company!

Still not sure whether you’re a Black Friday or Cyber Monday kind of person? Office Depot OfficeMax has this handy flow chart to help you decide!

4 Tips for Buying Baby and Kid Clothes on a Budget

With a young baby at home, we go through clothes like you wouldn’t believe. I had forgotten how quickly things get outgrown at this age- Shane was the same way, but it’s been over four years. I’ve gotten spoiled since Shane just outgrew his 4T clothing after wearing it for over a year. Now, however, it feels like I’m packing clothes away even faster than I’m washing them!

With how fast babies and young children outgrow clothes, it’s important to find ways to save some money while keeping {good} clothes on their backs. Over the last five years I’ve picked up a few tips here & there that have helped us save on clothing!

Buying Baby Clothes on a Budget

1. Shop second-hand. Babies outgrow their clothes around every 3 months- sometimes sooner. That means that most baby clothing items only get worn a handful of times before they are too small, so assuming that they aren’t covered in food, they are typically still in great condition! While we don’t usually buy second-hand past 18M {once they get into the “T” sizes- 2T, 3T, etc.- the clothes get worn for much longer and therefore are often worn out}, we would make exceptions for “special occasion” clothing that may have only been worn a couple of times- Halloween costumes, dress up pieces, tuxedos, suits, etc.

2. Shop the sales. If you have a favorite clothing brand {or two}, learn their sales schedules. One store that we particularly love has a very predictable schedule so we are able to get some pretty high priced clothing for less just by picking the right time to shop.

3. Set up a Swap. Whether you do it in person with your community or you join an online swapping site, you may be able to score new-to-you kids clothing without even spending any money! There are several websites out there that exist for just this purpose!

4. Save money on play essentials. Kids are dirty. They just are. Jumping in mud puddles, smearing ice cream all over the place, and falling down regularly are all parts of being a kid. Don’t send your kids out to play in expensive jeans- stock up on some well-priced play essentials that are cute but casual enough to play in.

Garanimals makes a great line of clothing that is very affordable, and perfect for play! They get how fast kids grow up {as proven in the adorable video above} and they make clothing that won’t break your budget, even when you have to buy a bigger size every few months! Garanimals clothing is available in sizes newborn to 5T and you can find it exclusively at Walmart or Walmart.com!

5 Tips for Healthy, Hydrated Skin

Sponsored post by Lunchbox, all opinions are 100% my own.

I have always had skin issues. Living in the desert, I fight dry skin constantly. I also have eczema, so it’s even more important that I keep my skin hydrated and healthy. Over the years I’ve picked up a few tips and tricks for making sure my skin is healthy. Below are my top 5 tips to deeply nourish dry skin.

5 Tips for Healthy Skin

1. Drink enough water. If you’re dehydrated, your skin is more likely to be dehydrated as well.

2. Eat a healthy diet. Make sure you’re getting enough vitamins and healthy fats.

3. Use warm {not hot} water in the shower. Hot water removes natural oils from your skin, drying you out faster.

4. Pat your skin dry. Don’t rub your skin dry with a towel- it removes too much moisture and can cause flaking.

5. Moisturize. Use a great moisturizer as soon as you get out of the shower, like Vaseline® Intensive Care™ moisturizing lotion.

Getting truly healthy skin starts with deep healing moisture. It’s not something you get by masking problems or through quick fixes. That’s why the healing power of Vaseline® Intensive Care™ moisturizing lotion is designed to go beyond basic moisturizing to help heal dry skin, leaving it looking healthy and radiant.

This month, Walgreens has great deals on Vaseline® Intensive Care™ products. When you buy any 2 Vaseline® Intensive Care™ lotions during August you will receive 2,000 Balance Rewards points- and when you buy 1 Vaseline® Intensive Care™ product you get the second one at 50% off.

Plus, if you visit Walgreens on August 23rd from 10am-5pm you can pick up an exclusive in-store $1 off coupon and get expert advice from a Beauty Advisor. Just make sure to get there early- they only have a limited number of coupons at each store.

Walgreens always has Vaseline® Intensive Care™ at an everyday value of $7.49 per bottle, but by combining these great deals on 8/23, you can get two bottles for just $8.23! Here’s how it works:

During August, there’s a buy 2, get 2,000 Balance Reward points special.

From 8/17-8/23, you can buy 1 and get 1 for 50% off.

Then at the Vaseline® Saturdate, pick up a $1 off coupon.

Combine all three of them for one really great deal!
