If you or someone in your house is new to the Nintendo Switch 2, there’s a little game you might want to check out before diving into your full library! The Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour is a small, standalone experience that you can purchase from the eShop, and while it’s not a traditional game in the usual sense, it’s a really helpful walkthrough of everything your new console can do and is definitely a great way to dip your toe into the Nintendo Switch 2 waters!

Welcome Tour is a low-cost download, and while it’s not meant to be a game you come back to every day, it’s a great option for those first few days with your new console. Think of it like a guided tour of your device- one that happens to have a few mini-games tucked inside!
What It Is
The Welcome Tour is designed to introduce you to the features of the Switch 2 in a fun, interactive way. It’s set inside a virtual museum-like version of the console itself- yes, literally inside the system. As you explore the different sections of the virtual Switch 2, you’ll unlock mini-games, trivia, and interactive demos that show off how the hardware works. It includes 30+ activities across themed zones like the Joy-Con, system screen, camera, and more. {If you have experience with the original Nintendo Switch, you probably won’t need to check out every single area- but there are so many new things on Nintendo Switch 2 that it’s definitely worth checking those out!}

Through various activities and demos, you’ll learn how things like the motion sensors work, how to use the upgraded Joy-Con 2 controllers, what HD Rumble 2 feels like, and even get to test out brand-new features like mouse-style controls! All of the activities are intuitive and easy to understand- even if this is your very first Nintendo device or handheld console.
I tried a little of it myself, and it’s actually pretty fun to explore. It’s very relaxed, not fast-paced or stressful, and it doesn’t expect you to memorize anything. You just walk around, try things out, and learn as you go. If you’re the kind of person who likes to know what all the buttons and settings actually do, this gives you a very friendly way to figure that out without diving into the settings menu without direction.

Who It’s For
The Welcome Tour is especially great for kids, families, or anyone who just wants to get a feel for the Switch 2 before jumping into bigger games. It’s also helpful if you’ve had an older Switch and want to learn about the new features- Welcome Tour was built specifically for the updated console and includes demos that showcase what’s changed!
