I received a copy of this game to facilitate this review.
Like many Millennials, The Legend of Zelda was one of the first games I played. I didn’t have it myself, but a family member did and it was always the highlight of my holiday when I could finally leave the dinner table and go play it on their NES.
Well it took until my mid-30’s, but all this time later, I finally got to play a game as Zelda! There are of course other cool things about this game that we’ll get into, but if for no other reason, this game was a hit with me- and my whole family- for the ability to play as the titular character for the first time in the series in a mainline game.

About the Game:
In The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, the kingdom of Hyrule faces a new threat as mysterious rifts appear, causing its citizens, including the hero Link, to vanish. With Link missing, Princess Zelda steps up to save her kingdom. Accompanied by a mysterious fairy named Tri, she wields the Tri Rod, a magical staff that allows her to create “echoes”—copies of objects and creatures she encounters. This unique ability is central to both puzzle-solving and combat throughout the game.

What I Thought
Like I said earlier, playing as Zelda was a really fun change for me. This year has been the year for the female Nintendo characters, with Princess Peach finally getting her own game and now Zelda being the main character of her own game series. Being able to play as Zelda gives a fresh perspective to the game!
This game was a great combo of the older and newer Zelda games, with a top-down perspective like in Link’s Awakening but with some of the newer mechanics from Tears of the Kingdom.
The echoes took a second to figure out but was a LOT of fun and led to some pretty fun problem solving! Echoes work by summoning replicas of various objects and enemies, which you then use to solve puzzles. I wasn’t the quickest at getting the hang of this feature but I did enjoy it a lot, and my kids figured it out pretty much right away.
Like always, the art style was beautiful- I appreciate that the Zelda series has had so many different styles, and yet they’re all stunning in their own ways. Of course the soundtrack is fire too, and we hope the soundtrack comes to the Nintendo Music app soon!

Buy It: You can find The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom at major retailers on online at Amazon. You can also download a digital copy from the Nintendo eShop.
