I received a copy of this game to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.
Princess Peach has been a favorite character of mine- in video games and just in general- since I was 4 years old and playing my Aunt & Uncle’s NES system while visiting on vacation. She was barely more than a couple of pixels then, but I was always so excited to play the “Princess Game” {Super Mario Bros.}
Well, it’s three decades later and Princess Peach finally has her own game! And the even better news? It’s SO much fun!
About the Game:
The wicked Grape and the Sour Bunch have gone off-script to hijack the stag and it’s up to Peach and Stella, the theater’s guardian, to save the day. Peach must take the stage of each show, transforming to match each performance – becoming a swordfighter, detective, mermaid, patissiere and more! – changing up the action at every turn.
Zac and I both played this game and we were both fans immediately! Here’s what we each thought about the game:
Zac’s Thoughts {10 years old}
“I like how there are a bunch of different powers. I like that it’s really dramatic, and the lore/story is really unique to different games.”
My Thoughts {Mom}
I loved how this basically took a platformer game and brought it up to the more current feel of game. For most of the game you’re still essentially scrolling like an old-school Mario game, but now you can run around in three dimensions while you do it, with all new ways to interact with characters and scenery.
I think my favorite thing about the game is that each level takes on a whole new feel, with different costumes and different ways to defeat enemies. As someone who actually did theater in high school, I love that Peach basically goes into different theatrical productions and take on new characters and new storylines- along with new moves to go with it!
This constant switching it up keeps the game interesting throughout- and it has so much to do, I haven’t even finished it yet!
