Two of my greatest loves- besides my family- are Nintendo and Disney. And while it’s rare for the two of them to combine, that’s exactly what’s happened this year with Disney Illusion Island!
This video game is a great holiday gift option for any Disney fan {of any age!}, or any kid who loves games with fun and quirky adventures!
What is Disney Illusion Island?
Disney Illusion Island is a Nintendo Switch game featuring Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy and Donald Duck. It’s an adventure game where you’ll search for books while battling enemies and exploring new levels!
About the Game:
Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy embark on a new adventure to find three magical books and save the mysterious island of Monoth. You’ll meet unusual allies and dangerous foes as you play solo or with up to three friends as the Fab Four in local co-op*. Work together as you run, jump, swim, and swing your way to victory!
Why do we love it?
There are so many things about this game that any Disney fan will love!
For starters, the actual voices play the characters in the game, so you’ll feel like you’re really interacting with a Mickey feature! The game has so much of the humor that the newer Mickey shorts are full of, and really hits on that same sense of humor.
The game also features hand-drawn animation and an original score, bringing even more Disney magic!
The game play itself is a lot of fun, and I love that you can play with up to 4 people {locally, i.e. in the same room}. That makes it such a great family game- a great way to spend time together with kids of all ages, and a great way to be able to include even the youngest players since the adults can help as well.
Multiplayer mode also brings with it some moves that you can only use when playing with others, like a heart-gifting hug and leap frog. That adds even more ways to play the game, keeping things interesting for even longer!
Who would love it?
This game is rated E {with mild fantasy violence- basic cartoon stuff nothing concerning} and I definitely agree with that rating. While my kids are {almost} 10 and 14, I would have definitely played this with them even if they were much younger. Any Disney fan, young or old, and especially those who are a fan of the newer Mickey shorts should absolutely play this game!
