As I’ve shared many times before, my family is full of Nintendo fans. My kids have been playing Tears of the Kingdom non-stop since it came out {review coming soon!} and three years after it came out, I’m still playing Animal Crossing every day!
We are so excited that there’s going to be an in-person event later this year where Nintendo fans of all ages and all walks of life can come together to revel in the fandom! If you’re a Nintendo fan as well, you won’t want to miss your chance to attend Nintendo Live 2023!
What is Nintendo Live 2023?
Nintendo Live 2023 is the first of its kind consumer event- in other words, it’s for the fans! Nintendo fans of all ages from all over will be able to attend a big, weekend-long event featuring hands-on gameplay, live stage performances, gaming tournaments, photo ops, character meet & greets, special merch, and more! {Note that attendees will only be able to attend one day, but the event runs Friday-Monday.}
Where is Nintendo Live 2023 taking place?
The first ever Nintendo Live event will be taking place in Seattle, Washington- where Nintendo’s Headquarters are! It won’t be AT their headquarters, but rather at the Seattle Convention Center.
What events will take place at Nintendo Live 2023?
Every day of the event, attendees will have the chance to play Nintendo Switch games, check out photo ops like murals and character meet & greets, and buy special merchandise. In addition, there are different tournaments happening each day:
Friday, September 1: Super Smash Bros.™ Ultimate Squad Strike Challenge 2023
Saturday, September 2: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Championship 2023 Qualifier at Nintendo Live and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Championship 2023
Sunday, September 3: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate amiibo + me Exhibition 2023
Monday, September 4: Splatoon™ 3 Championship 2023
There are also two musical performances scheduled, based on super Mario and The Legend of Zelda, but no dates or times have been released for those yet!
How much does Nintendo Live 2023 cost to attend?
This event is actually FREE to attend!
How to get tickets to Nintendo Live 2023
Since the event is huge and free, there’s likely to be a lot of interest. Likely because of this, Nintendo is making tickets available via a drawing.
To register for your chance to attend one of the days of Nintendo Live 2023, check out the Nintendo Live page and log in to your Nintendo account to sign up for yourself or your whole family {up to five guests}.
You can register for tickets anytime between now and June 22 at 11:59pm PST- it doesn’t matter when you sign up as all who enter will have an equal chance to be selected. You can only attend one day and can only enter the drawing for tickets for one day, so choose wisely!
Tip: Make sure your Nintendo Account Family Group is already set up if you’re registering a family with kids!
Will they do Nintendo Live every year?
This is the first ever Nintendo Live event, so it remains to be seen if this becomes an annual event. That said, the “2023” in the name makes me optimistic that they’re at least hoping to make this a yearly thing!
