When we moved last year, the drive to Shane’s school every morning became a lot longer. The bright side? That’s more time that I get to spend with the kids every morning- with both of them on the way there, and with Zac for some one-on-one time after we drop Shane off.
Last school year we discovered podcasts, which are a great way to spend our driving time. Melon’s House Party quickly became our favorite, and we are SO excited that it’s finally back for Season 2!
Melon’s House Party is a fun podcast where a tiny dog named Melon and her best friend Couch have all kinds of crazy adventures- deep sea dives, trips to space, and everything in between! Each episode is filled with original music and while the style of the songs differs, one thing is always true- the songs are always catchy and SO good!
About the podcast:
Step inside and join the fun! Did you know that the objects in your house sing and speak all day long? They just do so in a key only dogs can hear. Enter, Melon, an eight pound pup with a thousand pound heart who is the key to a world that lives right under our noses! She lives in a world full of friends; an always singing record player, a soulless computer, her bookshelf therapist and many more. But her best friend in the whole world is Couch. No musical adventure is too big for Melon and Couch as long as they can figure out a way to do it together. As Melon learns about herself and the world around her, she shows us how to appreciate the little things in life and the importance of friendship and family.
We look forward to Wednesdays when we can listen to new episodes, and since they’re a pretty decent length {usually just over 30 minutes} it actually usually lasts us a couple of days- and then we spend the rest of the week humming the new songs!
This podcast is a special way for us to spend time together and while we usually listen on our rides to school, it’s also a great way to spend screen-free time together. With all the great music, Melon’s House Party is also a super fun thing to listen to while cooking together or even cleaning! Sometimes after we’ve already listened to an episode together, Zac will play it again at home just because it’s so good.
If you’re looking for a great way to spend time with your kiddos- or just want something to put on for them without screens so you can catch up on what you need to do- then check out Melon’s House Party! You can find it wherever you listen to podcasts or on the Wondery app.
