This post is brought to you by Melon’s House Party. All opinions are my own.
For the last eight years, our school commute has been about two minutes long. It was just enough time for me to ask the kids about their days, get the low down on everything I missed, and then get home for after school snacks. But recently we moved, and that all changed.
My kids stayed at the same schools, but we moved across town. So we’re spending a whole lot more time in the car than we’re used to- and we run out of things to share about our days very quickly!
I’ve loved listening to podcasts while cleaning for a long time but only recently discovered story-based podcasts for kids and families! I don’t know how I didn’t realize they existed but finding them has been a total game-changer. And there’s one that just launched that is absolutely adorable- Wondery’s Melon’s House Party!
In Melon’s House Party, everything in the house comes to life as soon as the humans are gone. Throughout Melon’s adventures, we hear from Couch {Melon’s best friend}, the record player {with a phenomenal singing voice!}, the wall calendar, and more.
The episodes are about 30 minutes long, perfect for a car ride or to listen to while doing chores {or in our case, unpacking lots of boxes from our move}. Each episode has a fun adventure and includes lots of fun songs that will get stuck in your head- but in a good way!
Melon’s House Party is great because it’s not just family-friendly in the sense of being appropriate for kids but rather it’s family-friendly in that kids and adults will both actually enjoy listening to it! I found the stories simple enough for kids to follow without visuals but still engaging, and the music really was great. I never thought I’d be rocking out to a song about cleaning out a fridge but I was- I just hope my fridge isn’t singing the same song when I leave the house! I should probably clean it out to be sure.
But don’t just take my word for it- you can tell Zac loves it because even though I downloaded it to be our car companion, he keeps listening when we get home! Luckily since it’s a podcast we can listen to it anywhere, so he doesn’t have to wait for the next drive to school to see what Melon gets up to next.
If you’re looking for a great podcast to listen to with your kids, be sure to check out Wondery’s Melon’s House Party. You can catch new episodes every Wednesday!
