If you’ve ever wanted to go on a legendary quest with your closest friends or family, your time has come! Miitopia is out now on Nintendo Switch, and this game is part adventure, part goofy humor, and all fun for the entire family! {Seriously, we’ve all been fighting over who gets to play it!}

About the game:
Cast your friends, family, or anyone you choose in a comedy-filled adventure to bring down the face-stealing Dark Lord! Create and customize Mii™ characters, assign them roles, and watch them come to life. Laugh along as your best friend and dear old grandma team up in the fantasy adventure of a lifetime!
Have a blast with new features—including an adorable horse pal, wigs and makeup, and more—on the Nintendo Switch™ system.
This game is so much fun to play. Instead of having levels, Miitopia has different paths that you take on your quest to save the kingdom from the evil Dark Lord who is going through Miitopia stealing peoples’ faces! It sounds scary but is actually hysterically ridiculous, in a good way.
Along the path, you’ll encounter treasure chests and enemies- magical creatures like goblins and banshees that are wearing the stolen faces! You have to defeat them as a team to save the face and move forward through your quest.

At the end of each path, your party {which is composed of you and some pals that you get to create along the way- for example my party is my family, including my husband and two kids} stops at an inn to get some rest and refill their health. You can then build their friendships amongst each other, which gives them different moves to do in the battles while they support each other.

You can also use this time at the inn to eat food you collect on your journey {which powers up your stats}, go on outings to increase your relationships, play arcade games for prizes, and go shopping for things like armor. Then hit the road again to vanquish more enemies!
We recently took turns trying out the game, and here’s what everyone had to say about it:
Zac’s Thoughts {7 years old}
I love it because you fight monsters. I love how you get different teammates and different jobs to fight the monsters. The game is funny and I love how you don’t control your teammate’s moves because that would take forever. When you talk to people and see the animation of them getting their faces back is my favorite part.
My thoughts on gameplay for a seven year old:
Zac is a fluent reader, so he doesn’t have any issues playing this game. If your younger child still needs help with reading, they’ll be able to get through this game but you may need to assist them at certain points since there is a lot of dialogue. That said, Zac clicks straight through without reading half the dialogue anyway even though he can because he’s impatient so really it may not matter.
The subject matter is appropriate for this age and while the idea of an evil villain stealing faces sounds scary on paper, the game is not scary. It’s light-hearted and fun and I think even young kids would really enjoy it.
Shane’s Thoughts {11 years old}
My favorite part of the game is the fighting part. I made Zac {7 year old brother} the villain in my game so it’s weird and funny that Zac is stealing faces. The game is cute. I played it on 3DS but don’t remember much about it from before, but it’s easier to play it on Switch and looks better.
My thoughts on gameplay for an 11 year old:
This game really hits perfectly with Shane and his sense of humor. He still enjoys silly things right now but wants a little bit of an edge, so having an evil Dark Lord stealing faces hits that mark perfectly. The game has lots of funny dialogue that keeps him interested and it’s not too easy for him.

My Thoughts {Mom}
This game had me hooked FAST. Casting my family as my travel companions has led to so many funny moments in-game, like my seven year old singing to the enemies to torture them {and even hurting us in the process} and watching my 11 year old become best friends with a horse. I gave each of my kids personality types that match them in real life, so it’s also led to quite a few moments that made it feel like the kids were really playing along with me!
The different components of the game are all really fun, and while I thought it would be overwhelming to keep track of battling and rescuing and opening chests and feeding everyone and equipping everyone and going on outings and playing games- it actually works really, really well. It’s explained thoroughly and you’re guided through it when needed even after you’ve been playing for a long time. I’ve saved almost 200 people already, but my party still reminds me when they need to eat some food!
