We are less than a month from the release of Toy Story 4, and it seems like everywhere you go there’s something with Buzz and Woody’s face on it these days! Everywhere from the snack aisle at Target to commercials to pj’s and more, the whole gang is back and ready for another play time. And I am so here for it!
The original Toy Story came out right after my 7th birthday, so it’s been a major part of my life for as long as I can remember. Toy Story 3, definitely the most tear-inducing of the series thus far, came out when Shane was a baby so he grew up with it, too. While we’ve all watched the entire series over and over again all of those years in between- including the annual traditions of watching the Halloween and Christmas specials- we are so excited to see what our friends are up to now.
If you’re headed to Disneyland or Disney California Adventure this summer, there are so many ways to celebrate our favorite toys in the Parks! From special snacks to their own rides, here are the places you can find Buzz, Woody, Jessie, Bo, and everyone else this summer at Disneyland and DCA.
Toy Story Character Meet and Greets at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure
There’s nothing quite like meeting your favorite characters, and there are plenty of chances to do that at Disney California Adventure! Buzz, Woody, and Jessie can be find quite often on Pixar Pier, usually over by the right hand side of Incredicoaster but they do walk around to meet even more people. This summer as a special event in preparation for Toy Story 4, you can also meet Bo Peep on Pixar Pier!
Over at Disneyland instead? Woody can be spotted sometimes in Frontierland, but the rest of the characters don’t come out to play much at this Park.
Toy Story Rides at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure
Thanks to the popularity of the Toy Story movies, there are actually THREE Toy Story rides between Disneyland and Disney California Adventure- one for each of the movies so far! {It’s wishful thinking, but maybe they’ll add another now that there’s a fourth movie!}
Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters
This ride is great for all ages- though kids who are afraid of Evil Emperor Zurg might need someone to cuddle up to in a couple of the scenes. This interactive ride puts you in a spaceship and gives you a blaster, which you can shoot at targets to earn points and level up your Space Ranger rank. Different shaped targets earn different amounts of points and moving targets earn more, too- and keep your eye out for some hidden targets that only come out when activated! This ride never gets old as you can always try to beat your high score- or the score of your seatmate!
Toy Story Midway Mania
This ride also includes shooting at targets, but this time the style is just like the name implies- it’s a bunch of carnival games! The 3D game system is digital so you use the same tool to shoot balls, throw rings, toss darts, and more. Each level is themed to the movies and the ride from screen to screen is a rootin’ tootin’ good time.
Jessie’s Critter Carousel
The newest Toy Story addition to the park, Jessie’s Critter Carousel is a new face for an old ride. King Triton’s Carousel has been re-themed for Pixar Pier and recently opened in Spring 2019 as Jessie’s Critter Carousel. Now you can ride on the little critters from Woody’s Roundup, including my favorite- the skunk!
Bonus: it’s a small world
Obviously it’s a small world isn’t fully Toy Story themed, but you can find Woody, Jessie, and Bullseye in the Western USA area of the ride- keep your eyes peeled!
Toy Story Food at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure
While last summer’s Pixar Fest celebration came with a large variety of Toy Story themed foods, there aren’t as many these days. There are still some though!
Alien Pizza Planet
For years, I’ve been saying that Redd Rockett’s Pizza Port in Tomorrowland was a wasted opportunity- who wouldn’t want to grab a slice at Pizza Planet? When Pixar Fest came to the Parks last year they temporarily renamed the restaurant Pizza Planet and decorated it with the Aliens- and it proved to be so popular that they just finished changing it to Pizza Planet permanently!
Themed Treats on Pixar Pier
You can find Toy Story themed treats at Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff, like these adorable cake pops!
Senor Buzz Churros
At Senor Buzz Churros on Pixar Pier, you can enjoy the spicy Caliente Churro or the sweet Cinnamon Sugar Galaxy churro!
Toy Story Merchandise Available at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure
There are lots of places to find great Toy Story merchandise! Toy Story has it’s very own dedicated store outside of the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters ride in Tomorrowland at Disneyland, called Little Green Men Store Command. You can also find goods in all of the shops along Pixar Pier in Disney California Adventure, including Knick’s Knacks, Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff, and Midway Mercantile.
That’s not all though- Toy Story merch can be found in all the “main” stores, including Elias & Co., Julius Katz & Sons on Buena Vista Street at Disney California Adventure and Emporium on Main Street in Disneyland. Of course, you don’t even need a park ticket to shop Toy Story- you can head to World of Disney at Downtown Disney.
