Here in Vegas, we’re going to have a pretty late Spring Break this year. Our school district plans Spring Break based on Easter, so when Easter is late- so is our break. In fact, Spring Break 2019 is so late that it’s just a few weeks before the end of the school year!
In any case, Spring Break still means a week off school- we even get the Monday after Easter off this year, making it a full 10 day vacation. If you’re planning on turning that 10 day break into a family vacation, but want to find somewhere within driving distance {flights are expensive!}, be sure to check out the list below. We may be surrounded by desert, but we’re just a few hours away from some pretty amazing destinations! Below are some of our favorite Spring Break spots that are family-friendly and less than five hours away from Vegas.

Disneyland
I don’t think Disneyland needs much of an introduction, but if you haven’t been there in awhile, you may not know all the fun things going on right now in the Disney Parks. Over at Disney California Adventure, the Food & Wine Festival is in full-swing and will still be going on during our Spring Break time {the Festival ends the day our kiddos go back to school}.

The Get Your Ears On celebration in honor of Mickey’s {and Minnie’s!} 90th birthday is happening now as well, with special entertainment, unique decorations, and so many limited-time food, drink, and merchandise options you won’t know where to begin!

How to Save: If you’re interested in booking a Disneyland vacation, be sure to check out Get Away Today. You can save up to $111 on your Disneyland tickets when you buy them through through this link– and save an EXTRA $10 with the code NQSH! {They also have amazing vacation packages that are currently $500+ off- BUT our Spring Break is a black-out date, so if that’s when you’re looking to book, those won’t work.}
Great Wolf Lodge
Just down the street from Disneyland is another fantastic family experience- Great Wolf Lodge Anaheim! Our family has been there four times so far in the few years that they’ve been open in SoCal and we will definitely be going there many more times. {Check out my post on why Great Wolf Lodge is a great place for birthdays– we’ve celebrated the kids’ birthdays there 3 times now!}

Great Wolf Lodge can vary widely on pricing, but one thing to consider is that the cost of lodging includes your water park tickets. You can start using the water park at 1pm the day you check in, and you can continue using it until it closes the day you check out! The food at Great Wolf Lodge is phenomenal and there are often free activities to enjoy out of the water, too, like cookie decorating, storytime, yoga for kids, and more. There are also additional paid activities like a 4D movie theater, mini golf, kid-sized bowling, and a 24 hr. arcade.

How to Save: I don’t have a special code for you at this time, but my best advice is to sign up for their email newsletter. I get emails several times a week with new discounts available for different dates and it’s definitely worth keeping an eye on! {But if you’re looking to go for Spring Break, act soon- the prices definitely go up as dates approach.}
Knott’s Berry Farm
Now I haven’t actually been to Knott’s Berry Farm, but I will be going there next week and updating this post at that time to share some of my favorite things from the park. But in the meantime, I can say that while I was planning for my upcoming trip I was shocked by how many amazing rides they have there! I had no idea that this huge theme park was just a few hours away and now that Shane is getting older and getting more into the big rides, I get the feeling we will be checking out Knott’s Berry Farm a lot in the near future. If you love a fast roller coaster, be sure to check out Knott’s Berry Farm!

How to Save: Get Away Today has Knott’s Berry Farms tickets for over $20 off each adult ticket if you buy them right here!
LEGOLAND California

We have been going to LEGOLAND since Shane was 2 {he’s 9 now} and we still love it there. They are always adding fun new additions, like the new display that showcases the sets from LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. There are lots of fun rides for little kids and big kids, and so many fun areas to play with LEGO Bricks in-park.
LEGOLAND also has a Water Park which will reopen for the season in just a couple of weeks- in plenty of time for Spring Break!

How to Save: Get Away Today has great deals on hotels + ticket packages right here– be sure to use code NQSH for $10 off your package! Or, if you just want park tickets, LEGOLAND is currently offering a killer deal- buy 1 day at $115, get 2 days free! These tickets include both LEGOLAND and the SEA LIFE Aquarium, and you can add the Water Park for just $10 more.
Phoenix, AZ {and surrounding areas}
If you don’t want to go to California, there’s always Arizona! Phoenix is a very similar environment to Vegas, but typically runs a couple of degrees warmer. Spring Break should still be fairly temperate, though if you’re planning on taking this trip in the summer you’ll want to be mindful of the heat when planning activities.

We have only spent a short amount of time in Phoenix but we did go to the nearby Tucson Zoo- although Phoenix has one as well that looks fantastic! They even include up-close encounters with stingrays, giraffes, and camels. The Arizona Science Center has four floors of interactive exhibits and the Children’s Museum is great for kids 10 and under.

About 2 hours North of Phoenix is Bearizona, which is a part drive-though and part walk-through exhibit of many different types of wildlife, including bears, bobcats, otters, and more. We haven’t made it to Bearizona yet, but it’s high on our list of places we want to go!
Close to Bearizona is the Grand Canyon, which of course needs no explanation!
How to Save: Check out the Visit Phoenix website for special savings including package deals and coupons for various locations! Also check out this post about how to see many sights in Phoenix for free!
Whether you’re more into theme parks or nature, there are plenty of options that are driving distance from Vegas for you to enjoy on Spring Break! Where do you want to go?
