Make the man in your life smile with a great conditioner for that facial hair with this all-natural recipe! Father’s Day will be here shortly, and this would be a nice surprise. It’s easy to make and the ingredients are ones that are easy to find and actually good for him and his skin. The essential oils give it a great smell without adding harsh chemicals.
Ingredients:
-0.5 oz. beeswax {pastilles are easier but you can also use a brick}
-3 tbsp. unrefined coconut oil
-2 tsp. sweet almond oil
-1 tbsp. jojoba oil
-10 drops of pure rosemary essential oil
-10 drops of pure white fir essential oil
-8 drops of pure lavender essential oil
Supplies Needed:
Double Boiler {Hack it: if you don’t have a double boiler, use a tin can inside a sauce pan, Or get one here.}
Measuring cups and spoons
Spoon
If using beeswax in brick form, you will also need a knife
Containers- if using 1 oz. jars, this recipe will fill about 3 of them; if using the smaller 5 gram jars you can fill about 12.
Directions:
Tip: The best way to start is to have your containers already lined up, with the lids removed, because once the wax is ready, you don’t want the beeswax getting too hot and losing its properties. If your containers are already waiting for you, you can remove the balm right when it’s ready!
1. Fill the bottom pan of the double boiler about 2/3 full of water and put over medium heat. Next, chop up your beeswax {if you’re using the brick type} and measure it out and add it to the top pan. Slowly melt your beeswax, stirring it occasionally to break up the clumps as it’s melting. Once the water starts to boil, just put it on a low setting and let it simmer.
2. While that is melting, measure out your almond oil, jojoba and your coconut oils so they’re ready. If the coconut oil is too thick to scoop out, just pop it in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds to loosen it up {make sure you remove the lid before you do this since it likely contains metal}.
3. Once your beeswax is a nice clear liquid with no lumps, add in your coconut oil and stir until melted fully into wax. Then add your sweet almond oil, jojoba oil & finally the essential oils.
4. Leave the water on the lowest setting to keep it warm while you fill up your containers, because if it starts to harden back at all, you will need to put it back on the water and let it melt again. It will start firming up fairly fast, especially if it’s chilly out, so I sometimes have to do this at least once before I get to the end of it.
5. Almost done! Just let the balm set up for a few hours before putting on your lids & then you can make & apply some nice labels!
For use: Just take a small amount and smooth into mustache daily, or as needed to help soften and grow the hair nicely!
