I love animals. Justin makes fun of me because I love most dogs more than I like most humans. {&I like humans.} So any time there’s a new animal-centric film out, I’m always pretty intrigued.
When it’s a documentary, I am met with conflicting emotions as I still don’t accept the circle of life as a necessary thing {despite seeing The Lion King roughly 12,398 times}. I mean, I know they have to eat, but I am always just so sad for the prey! But on the flip side, I fall in love with the animals being featured very, very quickly. So you can imagine what this trailer does to me:
When I first saw this trailer at Walt Disney Studios earlier this month, I bawled. I mean, really. I was fine until “Home” came on & they showed that little cub- immediately my mind went to my babies {Shane & the new one both} &BAM, instant tears. And the next week, when Justin &I took Shane to see Planes? Same thing.
I love that Disneynature makes these remarkable films- not only is it a great way to teach our kids about nature, but they give back so much as well. Through donations tied to opening-week attendance for all four previous Disneynature films, Disneynature, through the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund, has planted three million trees in Brazil’s Atlantic Forest, established 40,000 acres of marine protected area in The Bahamas, protected 65,000 acres of savanna in Kenya, protected nearly 130,000 acres of wild chimpanzee habitat, educated 60,000 school children about chimpanzee conservation and cared for chimpanzees.
In keeping with the tradition of giving back, for every moviegoer who sees Bears during opening week, Disneynature will make a contribution to the National Park Foundation to protect wildlife & wild places across the National Park system.
Disneynature’s Bears comes opens in theaters on April 18, 2014 {just in time for Earth Day}.
