I’m a brand ambassador for The Elf on the Shelf, and have been chosen to help spread Christmas joy to others through this sponsored post. All opinions are my own- please see below for additional disclosure.
We have a lot of Christmas traditions, but one of our favorite ones is when we have a couple of visitors come stay with us for about a month- our Scout Elves! When Shane was two, our very own Scout Elf came to stay with us and Shane named him Red. Last year, he even brought a friend, and Zac named him Blue! Our elves tend to come back shortly after Thanksgiving, and every year our family looks forward to them and the big breakfast they usually bring when they arrive!
The entire month that they’re with us we have a lot of fun with them- every morning the boys rush downstairs to find where they’re hiding that day. Sometimes they’re just hanging out on a shelf, but they really like to get creative, too! Sometimes they’ll play with the boys’ toys, and last year they had a lot of fun with the Scout Elves at Play kit, too.
Another tradition we have is that every year we write letters to Santa. In the past, we’ve had our Scout Elves bring them to Santa- but we always worry about them trying to fly with such a big piece of paper slowing them down. Luckily our elves have always returned on time, but we knew there had to be a better way!
Our Scout Elves are due to come back soon- Scout Elf Return Week is November 24-December 1 this year, so we’re getting ready to welcome them back soon! What my boys don’t know is that I have a present- for the kids and for our Scout Elves: the Letters to Santa kit!
Letters to Santa is a new tool from the North Pole that kids can use to write special letters from Santa. The kit comes with a storybook, 8 sheets of special paper, Mrs. Claus’ Magic Press, Ribbon Sashes, Markers and Parchment Paper Using the special paper and Mrs. Claus press- along with some grown up assistance using the oven- kids can make letters that are easy for their elves to carry to the North Pole. Check out how easy it is to make the perfect letters to Santa:
We haven’t had the chance to try it yet since our elves are still at the North Pole {and Shane is still deciding what to ask Santa for}, but I’ll be sure to report back once we’ve had the chance to try it.
One of my favorite things about the kit is that we’ll get to keep those letters to Santa as ornaments on our tree for years to come! Every year when we’re putting up the ornaments, I always stop to reminisce over some of them- ornaments that my brother or I made as kids, ornaments that Justin’s grandparents saved for him every year of his childhood, and of course, ornaments that my kids have made! They are my favorite ornaments on the tree and I’m so excited that we’ll have these to add to the tree and look back on year after year.
As you’re getting ready for your Scout Elves to return, be sure to check out the Letters to Santa kit. I think it would make the perfect gift for kids and Scout Elves! If your elves need ideas for fun things to do each day, they can also check out the Ideas for Scout Elves app. Red and Blue used it quite a few times last year and they always had really creative spots!
