This summer was so full of amazing family movies, we didn’t even get the chance to see them all.
One that we were really looking forward to but didn’t get to see in theaters due to some family issues was Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken. Well, our time has family come- it’s available to own and watch at home now!
About the movie:
Dive into the turbulent waters of high school with this heartwarming action comedy about a shy teenager who discovers that she’s part of a legendary royal lineage of mythical sea krakens and that her destiny, in the depths of the oceans, is bigger than she ever dreamed. Learning to be an all-powerful sea creature while hiding among humans is hard enough for Ruby, but to make matters worse, her super popular new bestie, Chelsea, is secretly a mermaid! Mermaids have been battling the Krakens for eons to rule the ocean, but Chelsea has come to land to finally put an end to that conflict. However, when Chelsea double-crosses her, Ruby will ultimately need to embrace who she is and GO BIG to protect those she loves most.
Zac’s always been into mythical stuff just like me, so this movie was right up his alley. He was not disappointed! The action and adventure in this movie is perfect for his age, and of course who can’t relate to feeling like you don’t quite belong?
The movie really sends a great message about being proud to be who you are- a message that everyone could probably use, but especially kids that are the age this movie is mainly geared toward.
That said, this movie is fun for everyone and we had a great time watching it on our last family movie night! {If you want to make it your next family movie night pick, don’t forget to print out these Free Printable Movie Tickets!}
